Referee Vo Quang Vinh won the "Golden Whistle" title in Vietnam in the 2011 and 2012 seasons, but also failed the physical examination and had to stop officiating matches in the second leg of the 2013 season.

Mr. Vinh is an experienced FIFA referee and is trusted with the responsibility of Deputy Head of the VFF Referee Board, working as a lecturer, training and testing referee skills before and during each tournament.

At the VFF Executive Committee meeting on the afternoon of March 27, 100% of the members present unanimously agreed to dismiss Mr. Vo Quang Vinh from the position of Deputy Head of the Referee Board due to violations in professional work and training.

Accordingly, he was reprimanded and suspended from all assigned duties, including: Not being allowed to perform duties at the 2025 National U19 Women's Tournament; Being suspended from his job as a physical trainer at the training class for supervisors and referees of the 2025 National Futsal Tournament; Being suspended from his duties as a referee supervisor in round 9 of the National First Division Tournament; Not being assigned to supervise referees from round 14 of the 2024-2025 V-League; Not being allowed to participate in teaching at the mid-season training class for supervisors and referees of the 2024-2025 National Professional Football Tournaments....

The reason the "king in black" was dismissed was because he made a mistake when he was assigned to check the fitness of three female FIFA referees, Le Thi Ly, Tran Thi Thanh and Bui Thi Thu Trang, at the Hanoi Athletics Palace on February 5.

In the physical test, running 6 times (40m each time) is mandatory for the referees, but Mr. Vinh allowed these female referees to run 4 times, but the report stated that they had run 6 times and met the requirements.

The fact that a senior referee official was prosecuted for cheating during a referee fitness test raises questions about the transparency and seriousness of referee training and supervision in Vietnam.

In addition to being dismissed from the position of Deputy Head of the VFF Referee Board, Mr. Vinh also faces disciplinary action from the VFF Disciplinary Board.
