The Department of Cinema received an invitation from the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences - AMPAS to send 01 feature film representing Vietnam to participate in the 97th Academy Awards Preliminary Round for the "International Feature Film" category in 2024 in Los Angeles, USA.
The Department of Cinema has widely announced on the website (cucdienanh.vn) about submitting films to register for the selection of Vietnamese films to participate in the Oscar Preliminary Round from August 9, 2024 and received 04 registered films including: "Dao, Pho and Piano", "The Price of Happiness", "Lat mat 7: Mot uoc" and "Mai".

On September 23, 2024, the National Council for Film Selection to Participate in the Preliminary Round of the International Feature Film Awards - Oscar (2024 - 2025) according to Decision No. 2092/QD-BVHTTDL dated August 2, 2024 of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism worked and discussed, selecting the film: Dao, Pho and Piano (produced by Feature Film Joint Stock Company 1), representing Vietnam to participate in the Preliminary Round of the International Feature Film Awards - Oscar (2024 - 2025) (Decision No. 2779/QD-BVHTTDL dated September 25, 2024 of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism).
"Peach, Pho and Piano" is a historical film about war, depicting the fierce and heroic moments in the 60-day and night battle of the army and people of Hanoi Capital (1946-1947), in the last days before our army withdrew to the Viet Bac resistance base. The martyrs of the Capital Regiment fought with the spirit of "Determined to die for the survival of the Fatherland".
The film is a love story between a national guard and a beautiful young lady from Hanoi, conveying the message of the desire to live and love even in the midst of the smoke and bombs of war, and the willingness to sacrifice for the Fatherland, praising the bravery and patriotism of the people of Hanoi.
