Removing mechanisms to develop cultural industries

(To Quoc) - On the morning of March 20, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong had a working session with the high-level delegation of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) led by Mr. Ted Osius, former US Ambassador to Vietnam, President and CEO of USABC.


At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong expressed his joy and excitement to welcome the USABC senior delegation to visit and work at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST). The Deputy Minister emphasized that this year is also an important occasion to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 2nd anniversary of upgrading the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Deputy Minister Ho An Phong reviewed many activities that the two sides have jointly implemented, including films that have become catalysts for tourism development in the two countries. The Deputy Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always creates the best conditions for US businesses to operate effectively in Vietnam.

At the meeting, former Ambassador Ted Osius thanked Deputy Minister Ho An Phong for taking the time to meet the delegation. Mr. Ted Osius highly appreciated the efforts in cooperation in cinema, tourism, sports, etc. that the two countries have made in the past time. Former Ambassador Ted Osius also expressed his desire to accompany and support Vietnam in implementing important goals set by the Party and Government of Vietnam, including Resolution 57 of the Politburo on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.

Also at the meeting, representatives of the US business community in Vietnam made a number of suggestions related to the sector management of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

In particular, the representative of Visa Inc. highly appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in promoting tourism development in Vietnam and hoped to have the support and facilitation of the Government as well as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in expanding infrastructure, accepting contactless payments, especially for vendors providing services in the tourism sector, medium, small and micro segments, enhancing the experience of tourists when traveling to Vietnam...

The representative of Apple Company in Vietnam made some suggestions such as: creating a more favorable environment for content developers, application developers in Vietnam as well as internationally; creating a common voice among content creators, managers to promote the development of the game industry, and at the same time promote the promotion of Vietnamese cultural values. Apple Company also wishes to share global technologies, incentive programs, and encourage the maximum development of the potential of the Cultural Industries (CNVH) in Vietnam.

Meta's representative in Vietnam expressed his honor to have the opportunity to cooperate with Oxalis Adventure Company (Vietnam) by applying virtual reality technology to develop a tour product with beautiful caves in Quang Binh. This virtual reality tour has been introduced and warmly received at many international events. Meta is committed to continue to accompany and support these programs to promote the beauty of Vietnamese culture, contributing to creating a healthy social network environment...

Respecting and acknowledging the comments at the meeting, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong said that he would accept, study and supplement them to soon remove institutional “bottlenecks”, creating conditions for US businesses to operate effectively. For comments beyond the authority of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry will accept them and submit them to the relevant levels for decision.

Deputy Minister Ho An Phong also hopes that US businesses will continue to have good initiatives and solutions that benefit both sides, creating favorable conditions for the development of Vietnam's cultural and industrial sectors./.
