Chi Pu's return to cinema in the movie "Nguoi mat troi" is receiving much attention from the audience, especially after the resounding success of "Dap Gio".
The Sun Man is one of the rare Vietnamese films that exploits the vampire genre. With a novel plot, the film is currently receiving a lot of attention from the audience. The project is rated 18+ because of some bloody and violent scenes.
The film is directed by Timothy Linh Bui - a name that is not unfamiliar to the film industry with many prestigious awards abroad. Before this project, Timothy Linh Bui was the producer of two very successful works, Co Hau Gai and Chi Chi Em Em (2019), along with many other films shown in theaters.

Therefore, she is determined at all costs to keep what she thinks is happiness with selfish and cruel choices," the actress said about the character.

In addition to the two familiar actors, the film also features two young faces, Tran Ngoc Vang and Trinh Thao. Ignoring a few shortcomings and naivety in their acting, both did well when given the main roles in the film.
In addition, the somewhat disjointed development in most aspects (from the main couple's love to the past and present stories) is also a minus point of the film.

According to director Timothy Linh Bui, his original intention was to convey messages about brotherhood and the fate of outsiders in society. But instead of telling a normal story, the director decided to set the film in the world of vampires. Not many filmmakers dare to exploit this idea because the vampire film genre is often selective of audiences, and it is also quite difficult to find a connection between the mysterious demons from the West and Vietnamese cultural life.
The film's visuals and sound are meticulously crafted down to the smallest detail. The VFX technology is well-done, from the effect of the vampire's skin being burned when exposed to sunlight to the characters' flying and jumping scenes.
The special effects and vampire design are quite good.
The bloodshed characteristic of vampires is also exploited moderately, avoiding showing too much that can easily cause disgust for viewers. Typically, the scene where Marco and Trieu slaughter the people attending the party with them, although horrifying and violent, still creates a sense of authenticity.
The director shared that the main message of the film still revolves around brotherhood, love, and the desire for goodness - themes familiar to the audience. Therefore, the film creates a pleasant, easy-to-understand feeling for viewers despite being a fantasy genre about vampires. Every character in the film has their own dreams and goals. With recklessness and constant effort, they always try to rise up and look for opportunities to change their lives.
Aside from some acting limitations, overall, The Sun Man is a well-crafted cinematic experience with a message and demonstrates many strengths in production techniques.
Sun Man will be shown in theaters from December 8, 2023.
