On March 3, President Donald Trump announced that he would impose tariffs on agricultural products imported to the US in early April 2025, but did not disclose whether there would be exceptions.

In a post on the social network Truth Social, Mr. Trump emphasized: "To our great American Farmers. Get ready to start producing a lot of agricultural products to sell inside the United States. Tariffs will be applied to foreign products on April 2nd. Enjoy!".
The announcement comes as tariffs on major US trading partners are set to take effect at midnight local time on March 4.
Previously, President Trump postponed imposing 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico for 1 month, after concessions from the two neighboring countries.
However, the US leader said these concessions were not enough and the new tariffs would be implemented as planned.
In recent weeks, officials from the two North American countries have held talks with the Trump administration.
However, as of now, no agreement on upcoming tax cuts has been announced.
