The three-day poll, conducted Aug. 23-25, found that former President Trump’s approach to the economy and jobs was favored by 43 percent of voters, compared with 40 percent who favored Harris’s approach. The previous Reuters/Ipsos poll in late July showed Trump with an 11-point advantage on the economy.
On crime and corruption, Harris and Trump are tied at 40 percent each. In a July poll, Harris trailed Trump by 5 points.
Overall, however, a Reuters/Ipsos poll in late July showed Ms Harris leading Mr Trump by 1 percentage point, 43% to 42%.

Mr. Trump’s campaign speeches often criticized President Biden’s handling of the economy, which has seen years of high inflation. Ms. Harris has pledged to control prices through efforts such as cracking down on “price gouging” at grocery stores.
The new poll found that 26% of voters named the economy as the top issue, 22% chose political extremism and threats to democracy, and 13% chose immigration.
On the issue of extremism, 42% of voters chose Ms. Harris compared to 36% who chose Mr. Trump. But on immigration policy, former President Trump has the advantage with 45% of voters choosing, compared to 37% who chose Vice President Harris.
Neither candidate is widely popular, with 59% of voters saying they have an unfavorable view of Mr. Trump, compared with 52% who say the same of Ms. Harris. Ms. Harris is viewed favorably by 47% of voters, compared with 39% for Mr. Trump.
The poll collected online responses from 1,028 adults nationwide, including 902 registered voters.
