100% of the delegates present voted in favor of electing Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, to hold the position of Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

On the afternoon of May 20, the first working day of the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly, after the National Assembly voted to approve the Resolution to elect the Chairman of the National Assembly and Chairman of the National Election Council, Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, officially took the oath of office as Chairman of the 15th National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
“Under the sacred red flag with yellow star of the Fatherland, before the National Assembly and voters nationwide, I, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, swear: To be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the People, to the Constitution, and to strive to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party, State and People,” said National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
According to the vote counting results, 100% of the delegates present voted in favor, equal to 97.54% of the total number of National Assembly delegates, to elect Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, to hold the position of Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Mr. Tran Thanh Man was born on August 12, 1962; hometown: Thanh Xuan commune, Chau Thanh A district, Hau Giang province; Kinh ethnicity; date of joining the Party: August 25, 1982.
Mr. Tran Thanh Man holds the following positions: Member of the 13th Politburo; Secretary of the 12th Party Central Committee; Member of the 10th (alternate), 11th, 12th, 13th Party Central Committee; Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (July 2017 - March 2021); Deputy Secretary of the National Assembly Party Delegation, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly (from April 1, 2021); Chairman of the Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Organization, 15th tenure and Chairman of the Vietnam-Laos Parliamentarians' Group (November 2021); National Assembly Delegate, 13th, 14th, 15th tenure.
Mr. Tran Thanh Man has a bachelor's degree in political theory and a doctorate in economics.

From July 1979 to December 1982, Mr. Tran Thanh Man was an officer of Chau Thanh District Youth Union, Chief of Office of Chau Thanh District Youth Union; Member of the Executive Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of Chau Thanh District Youth Union, Hau Giang Province. From January 1983 to December 1987, Mr. Tran Thanh Man was Permanent Deputy Secretary of the District Youth Union, District Party Committee member, Secretary of Chau Thanh District Youth Union.
From January 1988 to June 1994, Mr. Tran Thanh Man was a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Secretary of the Can Tho Provincial Youth Union; from July 1994 to November 1999, he was a member of the Provincial People's Committee, member of the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee, Chief of the Provincial People's Committee Office, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Office of the Can Tho Provincial People's Committee.
From December 1999 to December 2003, Mr. Tran Thanh Man was a member of the Provincial Party Committee, a member of the Party Executive Committee of Mr. Tran Thanh Man Province, and Vice Chairman of Mr. Tran Thanh Man Can Tho Province; from January 2004 to March 2008, he was an alternate member of the 10th Party Central Committee, a member of the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee, and Secretary of the Binh Thuy District Party Committee, Can Tho City.
From March 2008 to December 2010, Mr. Tran Thanh Man was an alternate member of the 10th Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City; from January 2011 to September 2015, he was a member of the 11th Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, Head of the 13th National Assembly Delegation.
From October 2015 to March 2016, Mr. Tran Thanh Man was a member of the Party Central Committee, term XI (January 2011-2016), XII (from January 2016), member of the Party Delegation, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
From April 2016 to June 2017, Mr. Tran Thanh Man was a member of the 12th Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Delegation, Secretary of the Party Committee of the agency, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Member of the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption. From July 2017 to January 2021, Mr. Tran Thanh Man was Secretary of the 12th Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Delegation, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; from February 2021 to March 2021, he was member of the 13th Politburo, Secretary of the Party Delegation, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
From April 2021 to July 2021, Mr. Tran Thanh Man was a member of the 13th Politburo, Permanent Vice Chairman of the 14th National Assembly, Vice Chairman of the National Election Council (April 2021 to July 2021); from July 2021 to present, he is a member of the 13th Politburo, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly. Delegate of the 15th National Assembly.
In July 2021, at the first session of the 15th National Assembly, he was re-elected as Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and continued to hold the role of Permanent Vice Chairman of the 15th National Assembly; from November 2021 to present, he has been concurrently Chairman of the 15th Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Organization and Chairman of the Vietnam-Laos Parliamentarians' Group.
From May 2, 2024, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly assigned Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly to direct the activities of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam until the position of Chairman of the 15th National Assembly is completed according to regulations./.
The 7th session of the 15th National Assembly opens on May 20, 2024 and is expected to close on the afternoon of June 27, 2024 (in which, the National Assembly will work on Saturday, May 25 and Saturday, June 8). The National Assembly will convene at the National Assembly House; the session will be held in two phases. Phase 1 is 17 days (from May 20 to June 8, 2024). Phase 2 is 9 days (from June 17 to June 27, 2024), reserve date June 28, 2024. The total duration of the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly is 26 days. |
