Since January 1, 1997, after the re-establishment of the province, Quang Nam Trade Union has also been organized under the new administrative unit. Over the past 27 years, the provincial Trade Union has made great strides in terms of organization and number of members.
From only 8 labor federations (LF), district and town union executive committees with 475 grassroots unions (GCs) including 26,722 union members in 1997, the Provincial Federation of Labor is now managing 1,838 GCs with 140,485 union members/147,985 workers, civil servants and laborers.

* Mr. Phan Xuan Quang: In recent years, the Provincial Trade Union has made constant efforts, gradually innovating the content and methods of operation and affirming its position in society.
Trade unions at all levels have focused on performing well their functions of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers, and participating in contributing ideas to the drafting of legal documents related to the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers, especially the Constitution, the Labor Code, and the Trade Union Law.
On the other hand, the union has coordinated with competent authorities at the same level to organize inspections, checks, and supervision of the implementation of labor laws and union laws. At the same time, there are many forms of legal advice for union members and employees...
Trade unions at all levels have stepped up propaganda and education to raise awareness among union members and workers, especially about the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws.

* Mr. Phan Xuan Quang: The work of building an increasingly strong trade union organization has received due attention, especially the attention from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, and the Provincial People's Committee, which has helped trade union activities achieve better results. The quality of activities of the grassroots trade union has been improved, taking benefits as the point of gathering and attracting workers. The work of union member management has gradually become routine.
In the context of a lack of union officials, the grassroots trade unions in units and enterprises all hold concurrent positions, but union activities still achieve good results. The arrangement of the union organization system is carried out in the direction of streamlining operations to be effective and efficient.
Implementing the direction of the Standing Committee of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee and the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on personnel planning, the Provincial Confederation of Labor has done a good job in promoting, appointing and implementing policies for cadres and civil servants. Since then, union cadres have been assured to stick with and contribute to the increasingly effective union activities of the province.
* With the current integration trend, what key tasks will Quang Nam Trade Union focus on to build an increasingly strong organization to meet the requirements of the new situation, sir?
* Mr. Phan Xuan Quang: The comprehensive development and increasingly deep international integration of the country and the province have created new conditions and factors for the labor force to grow in quantity and quality, affecting the organization and operation of trade unions in many ways. Notably, the participation of other labor organizations will also follow the trend of international economic integration.
Quang Nam Trade Union has been focusing on implementing well the breakthroughs, programs and projects as proposed in the Resolution of the 17th Quang Nam Provincial Trade Union Congress and the 13th Vietnam Trade Union Congress. First, it is necessary to promote the development of union members, establish grassroots trade unions, and make workers trust and feel secure in joining the ranks of Vietnam Trade Union members.
Trade unions at all levels focus on improving their capacity and promoting the implementation of their tasks of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers. Develop diverse and effective activities to care for the practical interests of union members in accordance with the specific situation of the industry, locality, agency, unit, and enterprise.
The activities of the trade union continue to innovate and improve the effectiveness of emulation movements, focusing on discovering, praising and promptly rewarding typical and advanced collectives and individuals in labor, production and work; promoting "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle".
From the grassroots to provincial levels, trade unions are actively innovating propaganda and mobilization work; improving political capacity, educational level, professional skills, industrial style, and labor discipline of union members and workers.
The content and methods of trade union activities at all levels have been improved in terms of efficiency, taking union members and workers as the center, focusing on dialogue methods, collective bargaining and building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations.
