Novak Djokovic booked his place in the 2023 US Open final with a convincing 6-3, 6-2, 7-6 win over home player Ben Shelton.
This result helps the Serbian tennis player to have his 10th appearance in the final match at the US Open and aim for his 4th title in this tournament.
Notably, this is also the third time Nole has reached the finals of all four Grand Slam tournaments in the same year, after doing so in 2015 and 2021.
If crowned in New York, Novak Djokovic (36 years old) will become the oldest tennis player to win the US Open men's singles in the open era.
Not only that, Nole also raised the record for the number of prestigious Grand Slam wins in his career to 24.
However, to be able to do this, Novak Djokovic needs to overcome Daniil Medvedev in the final match.
In the second semi-final, Daniil Medvedev turned Carlos Alcaraz into the former champion after winning 7-6, 6-1, 3-6 and 6-3.
This is the third time in his career that the 27-year-old Russian tennis player has had the honor of playing in the final match of the last prestigious Grand Slam tournament of the year.
In the previous two finals, Daniil Medvedev lost to Rafael Nadal in 2019, but then won the title in 2021 after defeating Djokovic.
In this reunion, can Daniil Medvedev continue to surpass Novak Djokovic to win his second championship at the US Open?
Before the 2023 US Open final, Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev had faced each other 14 times, with the Serbian player having the upper hand with 9 wins.
In the women's singles, the final will be a match between home player Cori Gauff and Belarusian opponent Aryna Sabalenka.
