Contributing money, labor days, and even cutting down cinnamon hills that are growing and developing well to build rural roads has become a movement that has been actively responded to by people in villages and hamlets in Bat Xat district.

Previously, the road from Provincial Road 156B to the center of Na Nam village, Ban Qua commune was just a small, steep path, so transporting goods, agricultural products, construction materials or traveling for people was extremely difficult and arduous.

Mr. Chao Lao San, Head of Na Nam village, said: Without a solid road, it is difficult for us to do anything. Buying materials to build or repair houses is expensive due to high transportation costs, or selling pigs, chickens, bags of corn, bags of rice is forced down by traders. Especially during the rainy season, traveling is very difficult, hindering all aspects of the village's development.

Therefore, since the implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Development, first of all, the construction of a concrete road from Provincial Road 156B to the center of Na Nam village, people have been very excited. The land donation for the road was initially a bit difficult, but after being informed and mobilized, people "understood" and actively supported. Wherever the road was built, people were willing to donate land, trees, crops and property.

The village chief Chao Lao San added: The road is more than 1 km long, but the people in my village donated thousands of square meters of land. Because of the consensus of the people, the road was built very quickly, meeting the requirements of progress and quality. Now, we do not have to worry about traveling anymore, just focus, work hard, produce...

In 2023, thanks to the support of the State and the cooperation of the people, the Vi Kem - Tan Long road, Coc My commune (Bat Xat district) started construction, with a concrete road surface designed to be 3.5 m wide and 0.2 m thick. To make the road wide and beautiful, without steep slopes and sharp turns, the people of Vi Kem village proactively cut down trees such as cinnamon, fat, banana, etc. to have land for road construction.

Although the cinnamon garden is in a good growth and development period, and will be ready for harvest soon, Mrs. Phan Thi Noi's family in Vi Kem village is willing to cut it down and donate nearly 900 square meters of land. Mrs. Noi said: Building a road for herself and her children to travel on, so donating land is very normal, it is even a responsibility and obligation.

It is known that the Vi Kem - Tan Long route is about 1 km long but 13 households have donated land, with a total area of over 4,000 m2 . According to local people, building the route not only helps them travel easily but also creates favorable conditions for socio-economic development.

From 2020 to now, people in Bat Xat district have donated nearly 300,000 m2 of land to build roads and social welfare facilities such as schools, cultural houses, sports areas, etc. Each square meter of donated land demonstrates the awareness, morality, and sense of responsibility and duty of people in Bat Xat district in building new rural areas. Thereby, it also contributes to reducing budget pressure from the State, speeding up progress, and putting the works into use soon.

In 2024, Bat Xat district strives to achieve 211 new rural criteria; 2 more communes complete the task of building new rural areas, 1 commune completes the task of building advanced new rural areas... These are not easy tasks, even very difficult, but with the determination of the entire political system, enthusiastic support from the people, especially the support of efforts and materials... believe that Bat Xat district will successfully complete the set goals.
