MOVES OF THE "BIG GUYS"
In the V-League championship race for the 2024-2025 season, Hanoi FC and Nam Dinh FC have been very active in the mid-season transfer market. However, up to this point, the names that these two teams have brought in have either met expectations or are still unknown.
HAGL chooses safe option when signing contract with former player Brandao
Hanoi FC extended the contracts with Vu Dinh Hai and national team player Nguyen Hai Long (who opened the account for the Vietnamese team with a goal against Laos at the AFF Cup and sealed the 3-2 victory in the second leg final against Thailand). The capital team recruited midfielder Luka Bobicanec, Vietnamese-American midfielder Pierre Lamothe and striker Daniel Passira. In the match against SLNA, which has many young players and is second from bottom of the rankings, the new players of Hanoi FC did not play impressively. Striker Passira missed many good chances and was substituted early. Nam Dinh FC has not yet used striker Brenner and midfielder Romulo. They defeated Hanoi FC in round 11 thanks to the brilliance of familiar players such as Caio and Hendrio.
Both Hanoi and Nam Dinh clubs "reduced" their squads. Domestic players who were not used regularly had to leave. Ho Thanh Minh and Nguyen Duc Anh of Hanoi club moved to PVF-CAND and Da Nang respectively. Foreign player Jaha also had his contract terminated. Unable to find a place at Nam Dinh club, Hoang Van Khanh and Ho Khac Ngoc returned to their "old home" SLNA, while Pham Duc Huy joined Binh Dinh team. Some other teams also said goodbye to less prominent players, such as Ha Tinh letting Tran Phi Son leave; Binh Duong team replaced Mathias Malep with Welligton Nem; Hanoi Police club did not renew the contract with Nguyen Trong Long.
WHICH CLUB IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE TABLE?
Da Nang FC is losing ground in the relegation race when it is at the bottom of the rankings with only 7 points. The Han River team immediately liquidated all 3 foreign players including Werick Caetano, Marlon, Yuri Mamute to replace them with Emerson Souza, Cassio Fernando and Thiago Henrique. In addition, Da Nang FC also strengthened the defense by recruiting 2 domestic players including central defender Nguyen Duc Anh (from Hanoi FC) and goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung (from Ho Chi Minh City FC). Not stopping there, this team also welcomed a new coaching staff including head coach Le Duc Tuan and 2 assistants Pham Nguyen Sa and Nguyen Quoc Long. Da Nang FC's strong moves in the transfer market initially brought positive results when they defeated Binh Dinh FC in round 12, ending a streak of 4 consecutive losses. The amount of money that Da Nang FC spent on personnel purchases is not small.
Meanwhile, other teams in the "red light" group spent moderately, only adding necessary positions. SLNA recruited center back Van Khanh, midfielder Khac Ngoc, while Hai Phong signed a contract with striker Miche-Naider Chery. Binh Dinh Club and Ho Chi Minh City Club bought 1-2 more players.
HAGL has made a rather "strange" move in the transfer market, replacing Jeferson Elias with "old man" Washington Brandao, a striker who played quite impressively under coach Kiatisak Senamuang. In addition, the mountain town team registered a series of young "homegrown" players including central defender Dinh Quang Kiet (born in 2007, 1.95 m tall), striker Nguyen Minh Tam (born in 2005, 1.8 m tall), midfielder Moi Se (born in 2005, 1.7 m tall) and striker Hoang Minh Tien (born in 2005, 1.78 m tall). All are champions of the 2024 National U.21 Championship. These 4 players will be given the opportunity to play in the V-League for the rest of the season, thereby seeking opportunities to compete for a position at the 33rd SEA Games at the end of the year.
The mid-season transfer market of V-League 2024 - 2025 will last until March 12. It is very likely that many other "blockbusters" will appear.
