Mr. Truong Gia Binh proposed solutions for Vietnam to become an AI and semiconductor powerhouse.

Vietnam's human resources are a gold mine waiting for international businesses to exploit.

"Vietnam has a large space with great potential for cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors," Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT Corporation, excitedly affirmed when speaking at the Policy Forum "Vietnam proactively develops the semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence in the new era" held at NIC Hoa Lac this morning, March 14.

Giving the reason for the above statement, the Chairman of FPT said that Vietnam has 1 million IT engineers, half of whom are software engineers that can be converted to AI and are aiming to convert into 1 million AI experts. If this can be done, as predicted by Mr. Jensen Huang, Chairman of NVIDIA, Vietnam will be the first in the world in the Top developed countries.

"If many years ago, Vietnam was almost unknown on the world IT map, today, Vietnam has become the cradle of high-quality human resources," Mr. Binh said, hoping that corporations and businesses in the AI ​​and semiconductor industries would see Vietnam as a large talent center, a place where people with aspirations and a strong spirit of progress converge.

According to Mr. Binh, during the Covid-19 period, Vietnamese engineers worked day and night, forgetting to eat and sleep to complete their tasks. Thousands of FPT employees raced against time to complete important projects. It is this spirit of relentless dedication that has made Vietnamese engineers unique on the world technology map.

In the goal of training 1 million AI workers in Vietnam, FPT is committed to transforming and training AI capacity for 500,000 people. FPT engineers have studied day and night over the past time, receiving nearly ten thousand NVIDIA certificates, Mr. Binh said.

Vietnam is aiming to train 50,000 semiconductor workers by 2030 and will reach hundreds of thousands of workers in the future. In the context of the world and Vietnam investing in semiconductor training, FPT committed to training 5,000 people by 2030 and currently has 1,600 students studying semiconductors.

In recent times, more than 10 leading universities have quickly opened training programs on AI and semiconductors. "We have prepared a force for a new generation of experts, integrating into the global technology flow. This is a gold mine waiting for international businesses to exploit," Mr. Binh emphasized.

Vietnam is constantly thirsty and constantly striving.

Talking about Resolution 57 NQ/TW of the Politburo, Mr. Binh said that this is Vietnam's determination in choosing innovation, science and technology, including AI and semiconductors as the roadmap for future development.

"We are mobilizing the participation of the whole society in digital transformation activities, applying high technology to life. You may be surprised to know that in Vietnam, opening a bank account only takes a few minutes, all transactions can be done online. I believe that next year, when you come back here, Vietnam will have a completely new look, with a double-digit growth rate," the Chairman of FPT shared.

According to Mr. Truong Gia Binh, for Vietnam to truly rise to become an AI and semiconductor powerhouse, the entire business ecosystem needs to join hands.

Over the past 6 years, FPT has had a strategic partnership with Mila Research Institute, bringing together great minds in the AI ​​world such as Professor Yoshua Bengio - the "godfather" of AI, or Andrew Ng - a pioneer in computer vision.

These efforts have been recognized worldwide with more than 100 papers published at prestigious AI conferences such as ICML, ACL, NeurIPS. Notably, some of FPT's research has been ranked in the top 3% in the world, presented at leading AI conferences such as IDE 2024, ICASSP 2024, contributing to FPT's inclusion in the top 50 leading global enterprises in AI research.

FPT aims to expand to 5 AI factories globally by 2030, contributing to making Vietnam an important AI center in the region and the world. In addition, FPT is researching AI quantization techniques, researching and developing GenAI models for chips, and applying them to the automotive field.

Regarding the results from this process, Mr. Binh said that FPT is expanding the scope of AI applications to the world, providing advanced AI solutions to Pertamina - Indonesia's leading Oil and Gas Group, cooperating in AI development with KMP Aryadhana - Indonesia's largest innovation ecosystem, and establishing an artificial intelligence research lab with the National University of Singapore.

"Hopefully Vietnam will become a reliable destination, a long-term strategic partner and a center of innovation that is constantly thirsty and constantly striving," the FPT Chairman expected.
