A place to nurture love of culture and history for the young generation

Ha Nam Provincial Museum was built in 1999. It currently preserves and displays many valuable artifacts, documents, and images on culture, history, science, archeology, and ethnology, including many precious original artifacts associated with typical historical events in the formation and development of the land and people of Ha Nam. With the operating principle: "Taking artifacts as the main language of expression", the Provincial Museum has made efforts to diversify the content of expression, regularly organizing exhibitions and displays such as: "Imprints of the subsidy period"; photo exhibition "Practicing the worship of the Mother Goddess of the Three Palaces of the Vietnamese people"; performing folk culture and experiential activities; recreating the space of the old Tet, recreating folk games... attracting visitors from inside and outside the province to visit.

In addition to serving visitors at the exhibition areas, the Provincial Museum also coordinates with units and schools to organize many educational and experiential activities for children and young people such as: Mobile exhibition "Documents and maps of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa of Vietnam - Historical and legal evidence"; organizing thematic talks: "Pride of the land - People of Ha Nam"; thematic "Tet Mau Than 1968 - Historical imprints"... These are attractive and intuitive topics that attract a large number of students to learn. Listening to explanations and seeing artifacts at the museum to learn about history and national culture makes many young people feel excited; thereby helping the younger generation approach history in a more vivid and effective way.

In recent times, a number of schools in the province have effectively promoted experiential activities, bringing students to visit and study at the Provincial Museum, promoting the value of visual resources to teach knowledge and skills to students, arousing students' interest in history and culture. In addition, school teams also organize team member admission ceremonies at the Provincial Museum to educate the tradition of patriotism and national pride, thereby motivating students to strive to study and practice to become good children and good students...

Students visit and learn about history and culture at the Provincial Museum.

Do Khanh Huyen, a student at Le Hong Phong Secondary School in Phu Ly City, said: If we only hear about history in books, it will be difficult to remember the milestones, but when we participate in extracurricular activities and experience at the Museum, through the exhibits on display, it is easier for us to understand and approach history. After observing the exhibits with our own eyes and being introduced in detail by the tour guides about the milestones, cultural and historical values of the exhibits, I myself feel very respectful and grateful to our ancestors for overcoming many difficulties so that our generation can live in happiness and abundance. I will try to study well to contribute to building our homeland.

In particular, in recent times, the Provincial Museum has actively changed to adapt to new trends while still maintaining cultural and historical values. Accordingly, it has focused on building rich, diverse content, suitable for all ages and visitors. Instead of lengthy captions, the unit now uses images, videos, simulation models... combined with modern 3D technology to recreate history in a vivid and realistic way, attracting young people to explore... During a field trip to the Ha Nam Provincial Museum, Tran Minh Quang, a student of the Cultural Heritage Department, Hanoi University of Culture, said: To have more information and knowledge to serve my studies and research, in recent times, I have maintained the habit of going to a museum in Hanoi or neighboring provinces to experience every weekend. When coming to the Ha Nam Provincial Museum, I was impressed with the scientific and clear arrangement, showing the modernity of the artifacts here. That helps me a lot in receiving and processing information... The history learning of our young generation today has changed positively, not only simply learning through books and classroom lessons, but also trips to museums are an effective way to help students have a visual view and better understand the history and culture of the locality and the country through the periods.

In 2024, the Provincial Museum welcomed over 5,000 visitors to visit and participate in experiential activities at the unit, of many ages, most of whom are young people studying and living in the province. Currently, the Provincial Museum is in the process of repairing and upgrading to meet the requirements of preservation and organization of exhibitions to serve the increasing demand for learning about history and culture of all classes of people. Hopefully, after the period of repairing the facilities, Ha Nam Provincial Museum will continue to be a place where cultural heritage values converge, arousing the tradition of loving the homeland, the country and national pride for generations. Through the system of documents, artifacts, images, symbols, vivid films..., the Provincial Museum will become an ideal school outside of school, creating excitement, leaving a deep impression in the awareness and nurturing the love of cultural history for young people.
