Ba Na Hills Tourism

From 1919 to 1938, the French exploited Nui Chua peak and built villas, hospitals, post offices, and banks to serve the vacation needs of French officials, military officers, merchants, and wealthy Vietnamese.

For about 15 years, Ba Na Hills has been known to many people for its complex of tourist facilities, winning the title of "Vietnam's Leading Tourist Area" by the National Tourism Administration for 4 consecutive years from 2014 to 2017.

Ba Na has a cool climate all year round, with an average daily temperature of 17 to 20 degrees Celsius. This place is also known as the temperate zone in the tropical forest because in the same day it can have the air of all four seasons.

Move

The following means of transport and routes only lead to the cable car station. To continue to the top of Ba Na, visitors must buy a cable car ticket. Since 2018, Da Nang City has stopped the road to Ba Na because it is dangerous, and is currently only used for purposes such as forest rangers, planting and protecting, taking care of forests, and fire prevention and fighting.

Bus

From Da Nang airport, visitors can take bus route number 3 to Ba Na Hills, 25 km long. Ticket price: 30,000 VND, frequency 15 to 30 minutes per trip. Operating hours from 5:30 am to 7:00 pm daily.

Three other bus routes departing from the city to Ba Na include route 9 (Oncology Hospital - Pham Hung); route 13 (Oncology Hospital - Vietnam - Korea University) and route 14 (Han River Port - High-Tech Park). The fare ranges from 8,000 to 30,000 VND per trip.

Taxi

A 5-seat taxi from Da Nang city center to Ba Na cable car station costs between 350,000 VND and 400,000 VND per trip. Popular taxi companies include: Vinasun, Tien Sa, Mai Linh. Tourists can also choose technology cars. Taxis are suitable for groups of 3-4 people.

Self-driving cars

Self-drive cars cost from 800,000 VND per day. Tourists should use this means of transport if they only visit Ba Na for a day and combine traveling to many places in the city and surrounding areas.

Carpool

On Da Nang tourism forums and groups, there is a lot of information shared about finding companions for long trips in Da Nang. Right at the airport or some public tourist spots, tourists can also find companions. From the center of Da Nang, if you go by shared car, the cost is about 150,000 VND per person, one way to Ba Na.

Other means of transport include motorbikes and bicycles. Visitors park their vehicles at the cable car station.

Cable car and tickets

The cable car operates from 8am to 8pm. Visitors traveling by cable car to the top of Ba Na have the following options. Ticket prices for a round trip:

- Cable car ticket: 950,000 VND (adults) - 750,000 VND for children (1-1.4m) and people over 70 years old. For Da Nang residents, the ticket prices are 600,000 VND and 500,000 VND respectively.

- Cable car combo and lunch buffet: 1.4 million VND (adults) - 950,000 VND for children (1-1.4m) and people over 70 years old. For Da Nang residents, the ticket prices are 950,000 VND and 700,000 VND respectively.

- Night cable car combo, time frame 3pm to 10pm: ticket price ranges from 500,000 VND to 1 million VND, depending on the time. With the night combo, visitors can also choose combined transportation, food and accommodation services.

Cable car tickets are free for games at Fantasy Park, visiting the Golden Bridge, flower garden, and Moon Castle. Visitors should note that when buying cable car tickets, there are separate counters for individual guests, groups, and travel agencies.

Sightseeing

After reaching the top, visitors should go to the information desk to get a map of Ba Na Hills tourist area and how to get from different stations such as Hoi An station, Suoi Mo station, Ba Na station or Morin station. Some prominent tourist attractions on the top of Ba Na:

Golden Bridge

The Golden Bridge is a must-see destination. The bridge is located at an altitude of 1,414 m above sea level, likened to a golden silk strip across the mountainside. This is also the most beautiful place to hunt clouds in Ba Na. Since its construction, the Golden Bridge has continuously appeared in domestic and foreign newspapers. In 2021, the bridge was voted by The Daily Mail as one of the 10 new wonders of the world.

The Golden Bridge is always crowded with tourists during the day. If you want a deserted photo, you have to come early in the morning, or stay overnight at Ba Na.

French Village

In the French Village, take your time to explore every corner. The squares, towns, villages, and hotels here are all built in the classic French architectural style. There are moss-covered fountains, sculptures of Auberon - the king of fairies, or roads with giant models of famous books such as The Little Prince, The Old Man and the Sea decorated with bonsai and flowers.

St. Denis Church

If you are a fan of Gothic architecture and European culture, or have ever been passionate about the movie The Hunchback of Notre Dame, visitors should visit St. Denis Church located in the center of Convergence Square. This place has ancient stained glass panels and high domes, and gargoyle sculptures - mascots that protect churches in Western culture.

Sun God Waterfall

The waterfall is one of the prominent check-in spots in Ba Na Hills. This area is a complex of 43 statues themed after Greek mythology, most of which are reproductions of works that are kept in major museums around the world, such as the god of light Apollo, the god of love Venus, and the goddess of war Athena.

Moon Castle

The castle has the typical ancient architecture of famous European castles hidden in the clouds, opening a journey to bring visitors to a mysterious land, with many experiential activities, recreating Europe during the Renaissance period. The project has a floor area of 38,000 m2 including 4 floors with different themes: Dragon Cave, Mighty Wolf, Elite Owl and Moonlight Square. There is also a 2,000-seat stage performing many famous shows.

Eclipse Square

This is the place connecting the vibrant Kingdom of the Sun and the mysterious Kingdom of the Moon. Visitors will follow the domed corridor depicting images reminiscent of European Renaissance art works and the blue glass spire in the middle of the square, like a miniature corner of the Louvre museum. In a space of more than 60,000 m2, the square brings together all the experiences in the world such as architecture, art, nature, landscape, cuisine, bustling life with 3 main areas: square, retail area and restaurant.

Fantasy Park Amusement Park

The 21,000 m2 indoor playground offers the whole family entertainment space suitable for all ages. Dinosaur Park is a destination for fans of the Jurassic Park series. There is also the first wax museum in Vietnam with wax statues simulating famous people in the world. Thrilling games such as: free fall tower, bumper cars, skiver pilots.

4D Cinema

Multi-sensory experiences can be found at the Airship 4D Cinema "Moon Crossroads" - where the boundaries between reality and fiction are blurred by international entertainment technology. With a capacity of 331 seats, a 10-minute experience at the cinema will bring unique walks, surpassing the limits of a traditional park.

Wine cellar over 100 years old

Debay Wine Cellar, named after the French captain who discovered Ba Na, was built in 1923. It stores wines, most of which are imported from France.

Normally, wine cellars in Europe are dug underground, but Ba Na wine cellar goes into the mountain. The cellar is about 100m long, 2.5m high, 2m wide. The cellar walls are built of mountain stone, the ceiling is arched. The temperature in the cellar fluctuates around 16-20 degrees Celsius. Currently, there are 14 wine niches in the cellar, with wine from the owners of villas or hotels in Ba Na. Entrance fee is from 100,000 VND per adult.

Spiritual spaces

Ba Temple, Linh Ung Pagoda, Linh Phong Tower, Linh Phong Zen Monastery are spiritual spaces on top of Ba Na.

Linh Ung Pagoda is located at an altitude of nearly 1,500 m above sea level, in front of the pagoda is a three-leaf pine tree - a precious pine species in the Vietnam Red Book. Linh Phong stupa has nine floors, each floor has four sides with a white stone statue of Buddha Shakyamuni facing four directions, surrounded by statues of the Four Heavenly Kings. Four bronze bells are hung at the four corners of each floor of the tower symbolizing the sacred sound. Linh Phong Zen Monastery is typical of Northern pagoda architecture, built of ironwood with an area of 650 m2. The pagoda grounds are designed into two rows of left and right wings, guarded by Buddha statues and 18 arhats.

Performing arts programs

In a day at Ba Na, visitors can immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of art performances, enjoying surprising and captivating moments performed by international actors and artists. From 10am to 4pm every day, art shows will be performed at Le Jardin D'amour flower garden, Hoi Tu square, church, French village, Beer Plaza.

Eat and drink

At Ba Na Hills, visitors will find a system of 30 restaurants in three main areas including the French village, Du Dome Square and Le Jardin flower garden, serving Asian and European cuisine. Visitors can choose from many forms such as buffet or a la carte.

A food tour is suitable to enjoy the culinary quintessence. Anh Tuyet Artisan Restaurant with Vietnamese dishes; Kavkaz Restaurant with grilled lamb with Russian flavors; Brasserie Restaurant is the place to enjoy pizza, pasta, spaghetti and Italian cuisine; Thai Market is the destination for Thai food lovers. And for those who love fresh noodles with authentic Chinese flavor, you can go to Kungfu Noodle Restaurant.

Accommodation

The only hotel on top of Ba Na is Mercure Danang Ba Na Hills, designed like fairy tale castles. All 494 rooms have windows overlooking the French village or panoramic views of Ba Na mountain. Amenities in the hotel include a spa, gym, indoor swimming pool, bar, retail stores and bakery.

Room rates range from 2.5 million VND per night.

Ba Na at night

Most visitors to Ba Na will visit during the day, but staying overnight will give them more experiences. They will be able to watch the sunset and sunrise from the top of the mountain, and see the whole view of Da Nang City from a different angle.

In the evening, visitors who like excitement should go to Beer Plaza, with German beer and passionate dances from European dancers. Those who like quiet can stroll in the peaceful space, cool air on the stone-paved paths between the castles.

Staying overnight on Ba Na peak, visitors will have the opportunity to become the first guests of the day to check in at the Golden Bridge at dawn, when it is deserted. During the time frame of 6:00-6:05, 6:30-6:35 and 7:00-7:05, the cable car operates for visitors to move from Louvre station to Bordeaux station (from Ba Na peak to Golden Bridge to welcome the dawn).

Note

Ba Na cable car ticket is valid for one day.

Outside food and drinks are not allowed in the resort.

Visitors should arrange their time reasonably because it takes at least 6 hours to explore all of Ba Na Hills.

When participating in games at Fantasy Park, visitors must comply with height regulations.

You need to bring suitable clothes because the temperature in Ba Na changes quickly, with a large temperature difference in the morning and evening.
