With over 98 billion VND in tax debt, Movenpick Central project's land was revoked

(Dan Tri) - Quang Binh province has issued a notice to reclaim land for the Movenpick Central project because the investor, Viet Group Central Joint Stock Company, did not fulfill its financial obligations regarding the land.


The People's Committee of Quang Binh province has just announced the land revocation of the project of Hotel and residential complex combined with business - shophouse (Movenpick Central project) in Dong Hai ward, Dong Hoi city.

The reason for the land reclamation is that Viet Group Central Joint Stock Company (investor) did not fulfill its financial obligations regarding the land, specifically tax debts when using the land to implement the project. The total area that the Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee announced to reclamation is nearly 3,000m2.

Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee requests that project investors be responsible for completing the handling of assets on land within no more than 45 days from the date of receiving the land recovery notice.

According to the Quang Binh Provincial Tax Department, as of December 5, Viet Group Joint Stock Company still owed more than VND98 billion in taxes, violating the provisions of Clause 9, Article 11 of the 2024 Land Law.

Quang Binh Provincial Tax Department has taken measures in accordance with the law to force investors to fulfill their financial responsibilities such as withdrawing money from investors' accounts at the State Treasury, enforcing invoices, notifying temporary suspension of exit, preventing transfer of mortgaged assets, etc.

However, Viet Group Central Joint Stock Company still did not comply with the tax debt payment. Therefore, on November 9, the Quang Binh Provincial Tax Department issued a document requesting the recovery of the investor's land due to financial obligations to the State.

The project of Hotel and residential complex combined with business - shophouse in Dong Hai ward, Dong Hoi city has a total investment of 515 billion VND.

The project is invested to build a hotel complex (5-star standard), residential and commercial houses - shophouses and technical infrastructure within the project to form a residential and commercial area, combined with resort hotels, creating an urban highlight on the Nhat Le riverside road, Dong Hoi city.

In October 2020, the Quang Binh Department of Construction signed a contract with the investor, Viet Group Joint Stock Company, to implement the project. The contract implementation period is 29 months, to be completed on March 15, 2023. To date, the contract implementation period has expired but the project has only driven a few piles and then "shelved".
