Coming to the coastal area of ​​Kim Son district (Ninh Binh), what attracts everyone's eyes is the immense green of mangrove forests, parrots, and sour mangroves... Few people know that, with the initial starting point (in 2004) being bare tidal flats, after nearly 20 years with many efforts of Party committees and authorities at all levels, the participation of the entire political system, the responsibility of cadres, party members and people of all walks of life, under the "guidance" of the Party's directives and resolutions on forest management, protection and development, the "green wall" protecting dykes and villages for the people of Ninh Binh is getting greener, more solid and sturdy day by day...

Compared to many coastal localities, Ninh Binh has a rather modest coastline, 18 km long, located between two large river mouths, the Day River and the Can River. The Kim Son coastal alluvial area has a sedimentation rate of about 80-100m per year. Since Directive No. 13-CT/TW, dated January 12, 2017 of the 12th Party Central Committee Secretariat on "Strengthening the Party's leadership in forest management, protection and development" was issued, especially in response to the movement "Planting one billion trees for a green Vietnam", the planting of mangroves and coastal protection forests in Ninh Binh has been carried out more systematically, associated with the responsibility of each Party Committee, promoting the pioneering and exemplary role of each cadre and Party member, mobilizing the enthusiastic participation of all classes of people, especially people living in coastal areas such as Kim Dong, Con Thoi, Binh Minh of Kim Son coastal district... In particular, Ninh Binh province has enlisted the support and assistance of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and many domestic and international organizations to plant hundreds of hectares of mangroves.

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ninh Binh, Kim Son coastal area has planted about 615 hectares of mangrove forests. This helps promote the effectiveness of coastal forests in protecting and preserving sea dykes; conserving biodiversity, reducing greenhouse gas emissions; creating jobs, increasing income for people in coastal areas, contributing to mitigating natural disasters, responding to climate change and rising sea levels...

Not only participating in afforestation, forest protection activities are also focused on by forces, organizations and localities in the province through organizing waste collection and cleaning the sea. The campaign "Let's clean the sea" and the activities "Green Saturday - Clean Sunday", responding to World Environment Day (June 5) have basically brought about certain results, contributing to the work of protecting the marine environment.

The mangrove forests that have been formed not only create a solid "green wall" in front of the sea but also create an abundant source of aquatic life right under the forest canopy. People in the coastal area of ​​Kim Son are now assured to produce, renovate, and expand ponds to raise shrimp, fish, clams, etc. for a stable income.

Each year, the area of ​​planted forests increases, contributing to greening a coastal area with about 615 hectares of mangrove forests. Now, along the sea dykes that have been and are being built, forests of mangroves, parrots, and sour mangroves... are growing green and reaching out to the sea. In Kim Son, there are many places where the trees have grown to 3 - 5m tall, with large bases, forming large root systems that hold the soil and prevent erosion and erosion very effectively.
