Most recently, on the night of July 28, 2023, the Provincial Police proactively coordinated with the Tien Giang Provincial Police to prevent and arrest a group of 31 subjects in Ben Tre carrying guns and weapons to meet another group in Vinh Long province to come to the city. The police force of the whole province has stepped up the fight against and suppressed drug-related crimes and social evils, especially the illegal possession and use of drugs in karaoke establishments, bars, hotels, motels, etc., discovering 94 cases and 279 subjects of illegal buying, storing, organizing and using of drugs, seizing nearly 60 grams of heroin and over 230 grams of synthetic drugs; prosecuted 53 cases and 56 defendants, administratively handled 40 cases and 192 subjects, with a total amount of nearly 300 million VND; is consolidating the files to handle the remaining cases.
In addition, the police at all levels in the province always focus on implementing all aspects of state management of security and order (SOC); synchronously deploying measures to ensure traffic order and safety, contributing significantly to the results of reducing traffic accidents in all 3 criteria. Specifically, in the first 6 months of 2023, the number of accidents decreased by 30.86%, the number of deaths decreased by 34.21% and the number of injuries decreased by 44.44% compared to the same period in 2022.
