Over the years, female scientists have played an important role in the country’s innovation. They bring diverse and sharp perspectives to teaching and research. Their dedication not only helps promote science but also inspires the younger generation, especially female students, to pursue a career in academia and research.
The following three female scientists teach at Lac Hong University in Dong Nai Province. All three have highly regarded research projects.
Need to build research support fund for women
Dr. Phan Thi Pham (born in 1984) is currently Head of the Department of Environmental Science. She has done a lot of research in both applied science and teaching.
Sharing about the challenges of doing science, Dr. Phan Thi Pham said: "Women still face many challenges when doing scientific research, especially in balancing work and family life.
Spending time on research requires high concentration and a lot of time, while the family also needs care, especially when there are small children. Besides the support of colleagues and the school, I also receive sharing from my family, especially my husband and children, helping me overcome difficulties and continue to contribute to science.
I believe that with passion and perseverance, women can succeed and achieve many achievements in the field of research".
Dr. Le Thi Thu Huong (born in 1976), Head of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology, believes that female scientists play an important role in promoting educational innovation in Vietnam.
By participating in education policy making and training high-quality human resources, female scientists have been contributing to building a sustainable knowledge base, in line with the globalization trend.

Proposing solutions to improve the effectiveness of scientific research, Dr. Thu Huong hopes to have more opportunities for cooperation between scientists and businesses to bring applied research into practice faster.
Establishing a research support fund for women will also be a motivation for female scientists to firmly step on this path.
In addition, to enhance the role of women in science, it is necessary to educate awareness of gender equality and create a flexible working environment to help women develop their potential in science.
"I believe that with synchronous support from society, women will be an important factor contributing increasingly positively to the sustainable development of the country," Dr. Le Thi Thu Huong emphasized.
Balance life
Having worked for more than 10 years at Lac Hong University, Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhu Quynh (born in 1985) has a passion for Pharmacy. As a lecturer and manager of the Pharmacy Faculty, she has many scientific topics related to medicine and health.

"In my opinion, in scientific research or any aspect of life, men and women have their own advantages and challenges, depending on the role of that individual in the family and society," Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhu Quynh shared.
She admits that she has some difficulties in balancing her life. "We each have 24 hours, no one is better than anyone else. But when my child needs me, I will always listen and be by his side. The rest of the time, I will "race" for science and my work.
When I'm tired, I definitely take time to take care of myself, to have the energy and motivation to continue pursuing my passion," Dr. Nhu Quynh shared.
According to Ms. Nhu Quynh, the position of women in society is not inferior to that of men. They have many positive contributions to scientific research and the country's innovation. To develop women's potential, it is necessary to have the companionship and support from family and society. The State needs to have policies to encourage women to contribute more to science.
"For their part, women themselves must believe in themselves, practice good health, be strong enough and loving enough, set goals for themselves, and contribute to the organization and society. Scientific research is first and foremost an idea, and more importantly, how to turn the idea into reality.
This requires collective strength. If this is resolved well, women will have as many contributions as anyone else, even in the field of scientific research," Dr. Nhu Quynh emphasized.
