In 2024, Infantry Regiment 896 received 154 young men from districts and cities in the province. After arriving at their new unit, the new recruits were assigned to squads, platoons, and companies under the Regiment.

Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Dinh Phu, Political Commissar of BB896 Regiment, said: At first, when entering a new environment, new recruits all have a common feeling of confusion and anxiety. Many habits, forms of address, and living hours are different from normal life, but gradually they will change and integrate well into military life.

Arriving at BB896 Regiment, we were led by the Regiment's Political Commissar to Company 1, where the soldiers were practicing arranging the interior. These were the first lessons for new soldiers, for this content not only trained meticulousness and carefulness but also served as a foundation for training discipline in all tasks. Soldier Luu Hong Phuc, Squad 15, Platoon 5 shared: Practicing arranging the interior was very difficult at first, I tried to concentrate on practicing to fold the mosquito net and the curtain to be square, I found it very interesting, leaving me with many impressions, I will try harder in studying and self-training to improve myself.

New recruit Phan Dinh Huy shared: After arriving at the unit, I was assigned to Squad 1, Platoon 1, BB1 Company. At first, I was very nervous, not knowing if I could endure the training or not, but that feeling gradually passed because the squad leaders guided, encouraged, and helped me. My first lesson was being taught by the squad leaders how to address and greet, to call superiors as "chief" when meeting them, and then to arrange blankets, towels, clothes, and shoes in a neat and orderly manner.

In addition to the direct guidance of the squad leaders, the platoon leader is also the one who always observes, monitors, and grasps the thoughts and feelings to be ready to make timely and appropriate changes. Lieutenant Pham Ngoc Long, Platoon Leader of BB4 Platoon shared: For new recruits, in the first days, they will inevitably have difficulties when they have to interact and learn many new things, but we are often close, eat and live together, and grasp the thoughts of our teammates. At the same time, we let them practice physical training, do morning exercises, practice singing military regulations, and teach them how to increase production. Gradually, they will adapt and understand the style and discipline in the army.

Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Dinh Phu added: This year, the Regiment organized training for new soldiers at the Red Mountain training ground in Phuoc Vinh commune (Ninh Phuoc). The conditions here are sunny, hot, and more difficult than previous training for new soldiers. However, we have done a good job of preparing. Immediately after receiving new soldiers, we conducted a health check, cut 3 centimeters of hair according to regulations, and distributed a sociological survey form to each soldier to collect more personal information, family, friends, social relationships, as well as their wishes. We always pay attention and direct the companies and platoons to guide and help new soldiers quickly stabilize before entering the 3-month training for new soldiers. In addition, to ensure training, we have established a new soldier training framework, organized training for officers from squad to platoon, and trained officers in methods to grasp thoughts and feelings, as well as eating, living and working with new recruits.
