Remember the old Tet gift

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên11/02/2024

The Tet gift was so attractive, the book captivated the boy from the first pages. It took him to a world of little boys and girls with vivid and humorous stories. That boy was me and the book was The Adventures of Mit Dac and Friends by Nikolay Nosov.

Enchanting from the first pages

I was fascinated from the first pages. The little people are not like fairies or genies in fairy tales, but are just like us. They work hard, write poems, sing songs, create strange machines or discover new lands.

What is more impressive is that when reading the characters’ names, people can think of their appearance, occupation, and personality. Biet Tuot is a wise man. Thuoc Vien is a doctor. But the most famous person and also the main character of the story is Mit Dac. He shows himself to be a person who is eager to learn, wanting to learn everything: poetry, music, fine arts…

However, due to his laziness to think, Mit Dac never succeeded in anything. Boasting and bragging are also bad traits of this character. When the hot air balloon broke and he had to go to the hospital for treatment, Mit Dac always showed himself to be a smart and talented person in front of the little girls in the Green City. Only when Biet Tuot appeared did everyone know Mit Dac's true personality.

At the end of the story, Mit Dac is very ashamed of his actions. His tears of regret are like the most sincere apology to his friends. The forgiveness of the little uncles and aunts helps Mit Dac wake up and understand what he must do to become a good person.

The Adventures of Mit Dac and Friends

Valuable lesson about loving work and learning

The image of Mit Dac learning to read and write at the end of the story seems to close the mistakes of the past and move towards a bright future.

Through the lens of the world and the personalities of these little guys and girls, I have learned valuable lessons for myself: to love work and to love learning.

Another important thing is not to be arrogant with your knowledge. Learning from books is not enough, you have to accumulate more knowledge from real life. Mit Dac's failures in learning to draw, learning music... are also things to ponder.

People cannot succeed without passion and hard work. Being aware of that helps me a lot in forming the habit of self-study later on. The situations where little uncles and aunts work and play together show love and help each other as well as equality between people in society.

The beautiful and impressive image showing the caring and helping of friends is when Blue Eyes comforts Mit Dac and gives him sincere advice to help him become a good person.

On a deeper level, I understand that: For those who have made mistakes, we should help them to become good, not abandon them. Indeed, stories in an imaginary world have profound values for current life.

It is no exaggeration to say that the lessons from the little characters help me understand what it means to live, love and share.

The reading culture that was planted from the Tet gift that year will forever be a part of my life journey, spreading and inspiring every member of my family. The family bookshelf was also formed from the origin of the reading culture with a gift from childhood.
