Taking advantage of relatively favorable weather conditions, localities in the province are focusing on accelerating the progress of winter-spring agricultural production, ensuring the plan to provide enough products before and after the 2025 Lunar New Year.
The damage caused by storm No. 3 in September 2024 directly affected the agricultural production results of the whole province. To achieve the set goals for this year's winter crop, localities have been very urgent in following the direction of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to reproduce, ensure the supply of year-end consumption demand, and take advantage of every opportunity to promote growth. Specifically, the crop cultivation sector focuses on increasing acreage and producing intensive crops to increase productivity, prioritizing the production of linked crops, product consumption... Livestock businesses and households are also being oriented to urgently renovate barns and clean the environment to quickly restore and increase herds to ensure the supply of year-end consumption demand. Accompanying farmers are preferential loan support programs, support for seedlings, livestock... that are jointly implemented by social organizations and credit institutions.
This winter crop, Quang Yen town strives to plant over 1,600 hectares of vegetables. Solutions to ensure the production plan are implemented synchronously by the locality, well implementing the investigation and forecasting work, guiding farmers to organize timely prevention of pests and diseases on winter crops; strengthening inspection work on the business of agricultural materials, pesticides... In Dong Trieu city, the total number of winter crops this year in the locality is 1,500 hectares and focusing on developing and expanding crops with high economic value. After completing the planting plan, the city's specialized departments all sent specialized staff to closely follow the fields to grasp the situation and coordinate with communes and wards to direct people in the care and prevention of pests and diseases so that crops can grow and develop stably.
In Dam Ha district, on the basis of adjusting the socio-economic development scenario to suit the practical situation after storm No. 3, the locality has focused on promoting strengths in a number of agricultural, forestry and fishery production activities. Thanks to that, up to now, the district has completed the review to increase the winter crop area, increase livestock herds... to ensure the supply of goods to serve stable market demand. The district also directed specialized agencies to coordinate with local authorities to create favorable conditions to encourage establishments, cooperatives, and production and business cooperatives to promote their strengths in processing raw materials, in order to increase the value of goods. It is expected that the total revenue for the year in the agricultural, forestry and fishery sector will be nearly 3,700 billion VND.
According to Plan No. 227/KH-UBND (dated October 7, 2024) of the Provincial People's Committee, the total area of winter crops planted this year in the province is over 8,000 hectares, an increase of 343 hectares compared to the 2023 winter crop. The total output of grain crops in the 2024 winter crop is expected to be over 4,400 tons. By early December 2024, the basic planting plan had been completed, mainly vegetables of all kinds, all showing good growth and development. About 2,500 hectares of vegetables of all kinds with an output of about 60,000 tons have been harvested and sold to the market. Localities are directing well the care and management of pests.
Winter crop is an important commodity production season with diverse products, wide market, bringing high income to people. The results of winter crop production are of great significance, contributing to promoting the overall growth of the province's agricultural sector, ensuring livelihoods for people and food supply. Therefore, professional agencies, local authorities and people all have high expectations and efforts in recovering production, striving to achieve and exceed the plan set for this year's winter crop.
In recent times, departments and branches of Quang Ninh have implemented many solutions to support and encourage farmers, production facility owners, and cooperatives to innovate, invest in technology, and keep up with the digital age. Localities in the province have also proactively supported the development of advantageous products. The whole province currently has more than 7,000 types of tillage machines, meeting 90% of the cultivated area, more than 2,500 threshing machines, 3,000 milling machines, meeting over 95% of production needs; more than 700 sowing machines, meeting about 40% of the rice growing area... Quang Ninh's agricultural sector is aiming to develop towards high-tech agriculture, applying digital technology to automate production processes, developing e-commerce in agriculture, focusing on the province's key products. |
