Mr. Hoang Ninh said that the Ministry of Industry and Trade has been implementing a series of policies to promote the application of AI in industry and trade. Specifically, on November 13, 2024, the Minister of Industry and Trade signed Decision No. 116 promulgating an action plan to implement Resolution 03 of the Government on innovation, science and technology and digital transformation. At the same time, the Ministry is also submitting to the Government a program to support businesses in applying 4.0 technology, including AI.

In terms of practical implementation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has coordinated with leading technology corporations such as SIEMENS, Samsung, and Toyota to organize training conferences and courses to help businesses in the industry access AI. The Ministry also encourages businesses to apply AI in production and strengthen international cooperation to take advantage of experience from foreign businesses and governments.
According to Mr. Hoang Ninh, the application of AI has brought many positive results in a number of manufacturing industries in Vietnam. For example, in the textile industry, Vinatex uses AI to optimize production processes, manage supply chains, forecast market demand, helping to reduce production time by 30% and significantly reduce waste.
In the footwear industry, AI is applied to design models, analyze market trends and automate production lines. In the manufacturing industry, the Engine and Industrial Machinery Corporation (Ministry of Industry and Trade) has applied AI to improve equipment monitoring and maintenance, while companies such as Rang Dong and Hoa Phat are also actively applying AI to production and business.
However, Mr. Hoang Ninh emphasized that for AI to truly create a breakthrough in production, businesses need to focus on five decisive factors: institutions, strategies and policies; data infrastructure, equipment and security; will and determination from business leaders; strong enough financial resources to invest in AI; and a team of human resources capable of mastering technology.
He also pointed out that, to promote AI application, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will deploy more synchronous solutions in the coming time. First of all, it will build a program to support businesses in digital transformation and AI application in the fields of textiles, footwear, processing and manufacturing.
At the same time, the ministry coordinates with ministries, branches and localities to propose preferential policies on capital and credit to support science and technology enterprises; promote the construction of big data to serve AI development in production and business.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade also recommends that localities proactively build high-tech parks and smart industrial parks to create a favorable environment for businesses to apply technology. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen the connection between businesses and research organizations and universities to promote innovation.

* Mr. Nguyen Doan Ket, Deputy General Director of Rang Dong Light Bulb and Vacuum Flask Joint Stock Company: The cost of using current technology platforms is too high, especially from foreign suppliers. We hope that the State will support the development of domestic AI platforms at reasonable costs; at the same time, it is necessary to soon establish common protocol standards so that AI devices of domestic enterprises can operate synchronously, avoiding dependence on individual ecosystems.
* Mr. Ho Minh Thang, Director of AI Consulting and Implementation Center - FPT Smart Cloud: FPT Smart Cloud is cooperating with NVIDIA - a leading company in AI - to build Blueprint standards, aiming to develop specialized AI solutions for each field such as banking, retail, manufacturing. This direction not only optimizes investment costs but also helps businesses access and apply AI effectively, opening up opportunities for comprehensive digital transformation.
* Mr. Tran Manh Ha, Deputy Director of the Institute of Electronics, Informatics and Automation Research: For AI to develop more strongly in industry, it is necessary to focus on training human resources, supporting policies for applied research and issuing AI standards in production. Establishing standards will help businesses easily apply new technologies, accelerating the digital transformation process.
