Japan plans to introduce a new visa category to enable IT engineers and other foreign company employees to stay in the country for longer periods, the Immigration Services Agency of Japan said.
Accordingly, the new visa type has a maximum stay of 6 months for the above mentioned group of workers. This is a group of highly skilled workers who work in Japan remotely, that is, they work for a Japanese company while also participating in long-term personal tourism activities in this country.
This working model is also known as digital nomad. Self-employed people will only be eligible for the new visa if they conduct business to earn revenue overseas; they will be allowed to bring family members to Japan if they also have private health insurance.
