Mr. Nguyen Minh Ha, younger brother of poet and musician Nguyen Thuy Kha, has just informed us that he has passed away after a period of fighting cancer (at Hospital 108, Hanoi).
Musician, music researcher Nguyen Thuy Kha (1949 - 2025)
Poet, musician, journalist, and music researcher Nguyen Thuy Kha was born on October 7, 1949; his hometown is in Ngai Am village, Hoa Binh commune, Vinh Bao district (Hai Phong). He graduated from the University of Information in 1971, joined the army and worked in the information corps until 1990. He studied at Nguyen Du Writing School from 1979 to 1983.
Poet Nguyen Thuy Kha has published 15 poetry collections and 10 literary and artistic memoirs about poets and musicians.
In the field of music, musician Thuy Kha is known for famous books such as Van Cao - the person walking along the sea, Half a century of Vietnamese modern music, The faces of the century music, Huy Du - life and music... Along with writing music criticism, he also composes songs, participates in making music and literary films (he is the author of the documentary Nguyen Binh Khiem - the big tree with 500 years of shade ).
He was awarded the Literature and Arts Newspaper Poetry Competition Prize 1981 - 1982; Le Quy Don Prize 1986; Nguyen Binh Khiem Prize 1982; Vietnam - Japan Friendship Prize 1992; Vietnam Musicians Association Prize continuously from 1996 - 2005; Prize of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations in 2004; State Prize for Literature and Arts (2023).
