Accordingly, at 5:45 On October 9, fisherman Tran Van Quy (born in 1993, in Dinh Tan, Binh Chau, Quang Ngai) on fishing boat QNg 95139 TS approached the DK1/17 platform to request emergency assistance for fishermen in distress.
Upon receiving the information, DK1/17 Platform assisted the fishing boat to approach the platform and bring the injured fisherman to the platform for emergency treatment.
Before that, Mr. Quy was fishing and was bitten by an eel. The wound was 7cm long and 2cm deep on the inside of his right wrist, very dangerous because of the large amount of blood loss.
Military doctors of DK1/17 Platform give emergency aid to Mr. Tran Van Quy.
The Platform Commander deployed a medical team to apply a tourniquet to stop the bleeding and clean the wound. The medical team administered anesthesia, sutured the wound with 5 stitches, and bandaged it to stabilize it.
Fishermen are also given antibiotics, pain relievers, anti-edema medications, vitamins, bandages and instructions on how to change bandages.
After first aid, the wound stopped bleeding, Mr. Quy was conscious and in stable health.
At 8:30 a.m. the same day (October 9), DK1/17 Platform handed over the injured fishermen to their fishing boats safely.
Fishing boat QNg 95139 TS, captained by Mr. Ho Van Chau (born in 1987, in Binh Chau, Binh Son, Quang Ngai province), was fishing in the southern continental shelf of Vietnam.
