Scientist Rabea Rogge has returned to Earth after a four-day space flight.
Traveling with three other astronauts, the 29-year-old roboticist from Berlin officially made history as the first German woman to fly into space.
According to a VNA reporter in Berlin, Rabea Rogge departed from the Kennedy Space Center (USA) on the Crew Dragon spacecraft developed by SpaceX, along with three other international scientists, and landed back on the California coast on the afternoon of April 4.
During the nearly four-day “Fram-2” mission orbiting the Earth, the crew carried out 22 scientific experiments. This was not only a major step forward for Germany in the field of aerospace, but also a “strong inspiration” for women around the world who aspire to push boundaries and conquer new heights.
"Our goal is not only to push boundaries but also to create new opportunities for space tourism and scientific research," Rogge told German news agency DPA.
In addition to scientific experiments, the Fram-2 mission also focused on studying how the human body changes in microgravity and how fungi grow in zero gravity.
The Fram-2 mission also took the first X-ray pictures in space.
Rogge's space flight was funded by billionaire Chun Wang. Rogge was among Wang's associates on the trip, including Norwegian film director Jannicke Mikkelsen and Australian polar guide Eric Philips.
The journey is also a testament to the wonders of commercial space. As a scientific expert, Rogge is responsible for coordinating research for the Fram-2 mission./.
