"Soldier with the cause of protecting the Fatherland and homeland Quang Tri" in 2024

The 2024 Literature and Art Creation Camp on the theme of soldiers with the theme "Soldiers with the cause of protecting the Fatherland and homeland of Quang Tri" was organized by the Provincial Literature and Art Association in coordination with the Military Command of Quang Tri province. The purpose of the creation camp is to honor and vividly reflect the activities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in general and the Quang Tri provincial military forces in particular in the cause of protecting and building the country and homeland. The creation camp will be deployed from August 2024 to December 2024.

The Provincial Military Command provided the authors participating in the creative camp with basic information about the traditions, outstanding achievements and key tasks of the Quang Tri Armed Forces to have a basis for creating works in the right direction. The Standing Committee of the Literature and Arts Association promptly issued documents guiding related activities to ensure the success of the creative camp.

The Organizing Committee received 221 works from 75 authors. The participants were mainly members of the Literature, Fine Arts, Photography and Music majors; officers, soldiers and former officers and soldiers of the Provincial Military Command; leaders of the province, district, town, provincial agencies and teachers.

The Board of Review and Book Compilation selected and edited 141 works including: 9 short stories; 18 memoirs; 67 poems; 1 literary script; 11 fine art works; 24 art photos, documents and 5 musical works to publish the 716-page book "Vang mai khuc quan hanh" (Forever the Military March). 11 paintings and 24 photos were selected for exhibition at the meeting to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th Anniversary of the National Defense Day; 5 songs were selected for wide release to serve the soldiers and the people.

There have been 29 prose works selected for publication in the book "Vang mai khuc quan hanh". In general, the prose works are of even quality. Many authors have gone into depth and quite comprehensively summarized the panoramic picture of the army soldiers in general and the Quang Tri Armed Forces in particular over the past 80 years. Prose works written about the period of fighting against French colonialism with documents, depicting the image of the newly formed Quang Tri Armed Forces quite vividly such as: Notes on "The Soldier of the Nguyen Thien Thuat Squad in the Past" (Minh Tu); "The Name of the Regiment" (Ngo Nguyen Phuoc)... Writing about the period of fighting against the US to save the country, there are many profound and touching works. Outstanding works include "The Fire of the Hero" (Nguyen Hoan); "Silent Pain" (Le Thi Khanh Ha); "Endless Love" (Dieu Ai); "Two Special Women in the Life of General Doan Khue" (Nguyen Chi Hieu)...

There are many works written about the peacetime period that fully and vividly reflect the story of the Quang Tri Armed Forces soldiers in searching for their comrades, such as the work "40 years of persistently searching for comrades" (Tran Bien); rescuing people during storms and floods, such as the work "Legend of a hero who sacrificed on the Thach Han River" (Le Duc Duc)...

Writing about comradeship, the love between the army and the people, the brave and resilient soldiers such as "The loyal daughter in the heroic homeland of Quang Tri" (Le Hong Viet); "The close comrade" (Truong Khac Duan)... The works written about Quang Tri soldiers performing international missions in Laos and searching for the remains of their comrades in Laos are very touching such as: "The years of a soldier's life" (Tran Quoc Bang); the literary script "The story of Dong village" (Ta Quang Vu)... The works written about mine clearance, building a renewed homeland include: "The soldiers go towards the bombs and bullets" (Nguyen Thanh Phu); "Let Con Co bloom with victory flowers" (Dao Tam Thanh)... Unforgettable memories after the trip to Truong Sa with many vivid details and surging emotions such as the work "Truong Sa diary" (Nguyen Ba Duan)...

This time, many authors and works participated in the poetry writing on the theme of the army. The Evaluation Board selected 67 works to be introduced in the book "Forever the military march". In general, the poems are quite diverse, with many genres, exploiting many aspects, vividly depicting the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers, especially the heroic and loyal Quang Tri soldiers, overcoming all hardships and sacrifices, promoting the heroic tradition, "steadfastly holding on, determined to fight and win"; building, fighting, and growing step by step through the revolutionary stages. The poems summarize the overall activities of the Quang Tri Armed Forces since its inception, through the revolutionary stages and today's mission such as "Proud of the Quang Tri Soldier" (Nguyen Dang Quang); "March of the heroic Quang Tri armed forces" (Nguyen Van Dung)... Some typical poems can be mentioned such as: "Returning to the place where the regiment was founded" (Nguyen Huu Thang); “Carp on the Thach Han River” (Vo Van Luyen); “Thach Han Night of Lanterns” (Nguyen Van Bao Nhan); “River Cemetery” (Xuan Loi)... Poetry written about Quang Tri soldiers during the peace and construction period is a genre of poetry that takes up quite a lot of space. In particular, the theme of searching for comrades is a very emotional genre of poetry such as: “Motherland Welcomes You Home” (Truong An), “Waiting Wharf” (Hong Quang)... along with many other typical works depicting the image of soldiers helping people prevent storms, floods, epidemics, practicing enthusiastically; patrolling to protect the border such as: “Peaceful Explosions” (Nguyen Huu Quy); “Border Moon” (Vo Van Hoa)...

With the efforts and responsibilities of the artists, 11 authors have created 11 quality works of art. The artists have meticulously observed, discovered, and depicted the image of "A soldier with the cause of protecting the Fatherland and Quang Tri homeland" with a modern, multi-dimensional expression, combining reality and stereoscopic interweaving, with high associative and generalization power. The characters in the paintings and motifs blend together to enhance the content of the work. The vivid, pure, and perfect shaping quality expresses humanistic values. The unique style leaves an impression, spreading in the social community. In the process of finding the expressive language and expressive materials for the content of the soldier theme, the artists have found the four pictures, the structure of the artistic language, presenting all the different ideas and contents with different artistic languages ​​in a completely free manner. The Organizing Committee highly appreciated the expressions, colors, and expressions of the authors to vividly depict, suitable for the theme of soldiers performing combat missions in peacetime.

Regarding Photography, the authors have tried to penetrate reality, reflecting many different angles and forms of soldiers in the task of training and being ready to fight to protect the Fatherland, doing mass mobilization work, and being good soldiers in all fields of work and combat. The shooting angles are creative, the sharpness is deep, the composition is tight, achieving aesthetic elements. The images, good artistic quality, the lines and tones suggest many implications showing the professionalism of the author. Among them, some works are of high quality, vividly reflecting the outstanding activities of soldiers in the new situation...

Regarding music, the musicians participating in composing the theme: "Soldiers with the cause of protecting the Fatherland and the homeland of Quang Tri" have 5 authors, co-authors with 5 works. The musical works have vividly depicted the proud 80-year journey of the army and the armed forces of Quang Tri, about Uncle Ho's soldiers with their boundless sacrifices and resounding achievements, making important contributions to the cause of protecting and building the Fatherland today. In the 5 musical works, there are 2 works set to poetry. Some musical works written about soldiers this time are of good quality such as the songs: "Proud of the soldier of Quang Tri" (musician Vo The Hung, set to poetry by Nguyen Dang Quang); "Proud of the soldier of heroic Quang Tri" (musician Xuan Vu, set to poetry by Nguyen Van Dung); "Proud of the militia navy of Quang Tri" (Phuong Bac)...

The 2024 Literature and Arts Creation Camp with the theme “Soldiers with the cause of protecting the Fatherland and the homeland of Quang Tri” achieved remarkable results. The creation camp attracted a large number of authors to participate, exceeding the initial expectation in terms of both the number of participants and the submitted works. That demonstrated the special interest and affection of cadres, soldiers, members and people for the heroic Quang Tri Army and Armed Forces.

Of the 141 works selected for book publication, exhibition, and public announcement, the Organizing Committee considered and awarded 28 prizes to authors and co-authors with quality works (4 A prizes, 6 B prizes, 8 C prizes, 10 Encouragement prizes).

The literary and artistic creation camp with the theme “Soldiers with the cause of protecting the Fatherland and Quang Tri homeland” ended very successfully, spreading great faith and love for the Vietnam People's Army and the heroic Quang Tri Armed Forces on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of glorious tradition.
