Leaders of Vinh Long province work with Niigata University, Japan

(VLO) Continuing the trade promotion program in Japan, the delegation of Vinh Long province led by Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Lu Quang Ngoi recently had a working session with the leaders of Niigata University (Niigata province, Japan). Receiving the delegation was Dr. USHIKI Tatsuo - President of Niigata University.

Leaders of Vinh Long province and Niigata University presented gifts with characteristics of the two localities.

Niigata University has a history of about 150 years. The university has many institutes and affiliated schools, of which the pride of the university is the brain research institute, the disaster and disaster recovery research institute, medical and dental hospitals.

At the meeting, the leaders of Niigata University recalled the working trip of the leaders of Niigata province to Vinh Long province in August 2024. At that time, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vinh Long province signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Niigata University including 4 contents: Research on planting Japanese multi-stress drought-tolerant rice varieties (NU 1 and Shindai 5); JCM methane emission reduction project; Two-way rice export project between Vietnam and Japan and Agricultural technology human resource exchange project.

Niigata University leaders said that the cultivation of rice varieties is progressing smoothly. After visiting Vinh Long province, the unit reported the project progress to the Governor of Niigata province and also exchanged opinions on how to complete the project. Niigata University leaders believe that these rice varieties will contribute to helping the Mekong Delta cope with the current global warming phenomenon.

At the meeting, representatives of Vinh Long University of Technical Education also informed about the school's human resources and expressed their desire to cooperate with Niigata University in many fields.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Lu Quang Ngoi thanked the leaders of Niigata University for taking the time to welcome the delegation of Vinh Long province. This is an opportunity for Vinh Long and Niigata University to exchange, discuss and promote the cooperative relationship between the two sides, in addition to the previously signed contents.
