Agarwood workers in Nong Son "do well"

Visiting the agarwood handicraft and incense production facility of Mr. Vo Chi Thanh and his wife, we were impressed by the spirit of daring to think, daring to do, and overcoming difficulties of this young couple.

Mr. Thanh is one of the young people who started their own business in the craft of making agarwood in Ninh Phuoc commune. With his enthusiasm and daring to think and do, he and his wife invested in opening a workshop to produce agarwood with a total capital of up to billions of dong.

Mr. Thanh shared that many years ago, he applied to work as a craftsman for a large agarwood workshop in Nong Son. His wife (Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Nguyen) is a small trader who specializes in collecting handicraft products, feng shui jewelry, agarwood beads, bracelets... to supply to larger agents in Da Nang to sell abroad.

Seeing the open market, the couple decided to borrow money from friends and relatives to open a factory. When the products sold well and they had some capital, they continued to invest in more machinery and equipment to produce incense sticks (with or without sticks), incense cones, and incense coils from agarwood... The products were mainly sold to agents in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City to be sold abroad with annual revenue reaching billions of dong.

The agarwood handicraft facility of Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong and Mr. Nguyen Minh Dinh Truong is also one of the small, successful establishments in Ninh Phuoc.

About 10 years ago, Mr. Truong went to learn a trade, worked in an agarwood workshop, and then received orders to process products for large agarwood handicraft establishments.

With so many goods coming in and not being able to handle them all, he decided to open a workshop to process agarwood. Realizing that production and business were favorable, he and his wife bought more machinery to process and produce. Currently, the facility provides jobs for 6 local workers with a salary of 6 - 7 million VND/person/month.

“My factory always has products to make, with both agarwood and agarwood products (artificial agarwood and natural agarwood), depending on consumer requirements, budget, and customer choice.

Every month, the factory produces hundreds of products made from agarwood. Agarwood bracelets and necklaces alone have dozens of types with different designs, sizes, and prices," said Ms. Phuong.

Mr. Le Anh Tuan - Acting Chairman of Ninh Phuoc Commune People's Committee said that the locality has 30 establishments producing and processing handicraft products from agarwood with many product lines. Agarwood pen products have achieved 3-star OCOP standards in 2023.

Other handicraft products from agarwood have very strong output, the strongest consumer markets are China, Taiwan, Korea... From the State's industrial promotion policy, some production facilities have been supported with necessary machinery and equipment for production.
