Phu Hoi agarwood village, with a tradition of over 100 years, has been in the Tet production season for nearly 2 months. The artisans here are focusing on making unique agarwood products to serve the Tet demand.
On this occasion, items such as display agarwood, bracelets, stickless incense, cone incense, agarwood essential oil and necklaces are favored by customers not only because of their cultural value but also because of their aesthetics, making them very suitable as gifts.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dung, a long-time artisan in Phu Hoi 1 village, shared that more than 2 months ago, he and his workers started producing large agarwood blocks, nearly 2 meters high.
These are high-value products, which can cost up to hundreds of millions of dong. Although these products require a lot of effort and few people buy them, they are still popular during Tet because of their uniqueness.
In addition to ornamental agarwood products, items such as raw agarwood and agarwood incense are produced at maximum capacity to meet Tet demand.
With more than 20 years of experience, Mr. Duong Ngoc Thai said that his family's production has started to pick up since the middle of this year, and they are ready to provide quality agarwood products for Tet.
Phu Hoi 1 agarwood village currently has more than 300 households and agarwood production facilities. Every year, the 10th lunar month is the peak production season for agarwood products to serve the needs of Tet. Many facilities have begun receiving orders from customers not only in the province but also from Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.
Agarwood products are popular, especially incense, with prices ranging from VND150,000/kg to VND2.5 million/kg. The most popular incense costs VND450,000/kg. Products such as bracelets and necklaces are also in high demand, with prices ranging from several hundred thousand to tens of millions of VND.
Mr. Tran Cong Duc, director of Van Thang Agarwood Cooperative, said that in recent years, the craft village has invested in modern machinery, producing sophisticated and high-value products, especially fine art agarwood.
Mr. Duc also emphasized that local people have focused on brand building, no longer just processing for other brands but have registered their own trademarks, thereby spreading the value of Khanh Hoa agarwood.
Potential community tourism development village
Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism has just recognized Van Thang commune's agarwood-smelling craft village as a potential location for community tourism development.
Mr. Huynh Van Hoa, Chairman of Van Thang Commune People's Committee, said that the commune has cooperated with national enterprises to expand product value chains both domestically and internationally. At the same time, the commune takes advantage of natural resources to develop sustainable community tourism.
