The Andrology Center, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital (Hanoi), said that the hospital's doctors had just received and performed surgery on a 70-year-old male patient (from Thanh Hoa) who was admitted to the hospital in a state of losing almost all of his penile skin and his right testicle.

Directly performing surgery on the above patient, Dr. Trinh Hoang Giang, Deputy Director of the Andrology Center, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, said that the patient had been debrided and cleaned of the wound caused by an animal bite that was at high risk of infection. The patient needed surgery to cover the skin of the penis, after 3 months, new skin of the penis would form.

Dr. Trinh Hoang Giang, Deputy Director of the Andrology Center, examines a patient who lost his right testicle due to being attacked by a pig.

Dr. Trinh Hoang Giang assessed that external genital injuries caused by animal bites are a rare injury in andrology. This injury can be caused by many different reasons, including traffic accidents; falling from a height or being kicked in the scrotum or penis during sports competitions...

In daily life, wounds on the penis and scrotum can be caused by being bitten, cut, or torn off by others due to jealousy... Some depressed people cut off their own genitals.

According to the Andrology Center, doctors have recorded cases of external genital injuries often caused by dog and pig bites. Dogs often bite the external genitals of children and the elderly when they go to the toilet. External genital injuries can also occur when castrating pigs (because when castrating, the pig's head is often turned upside down and clamped between the two thighs; the pig struggles and bites the person holding the penis). In this situation, the penis is often completely severed.

In addition, the external genital wound can be attacked by the sow biting when catching the piglets. The above male patient is such a case.

Doctors from the Andrology Center note that people need to ensure labor safety, barns must have fences high enough to limit livestock attacks on humans. When in direct contact with livestock, labor protection must be worn. If unfortunately injured, scrotal and penile wounds, it is necessary to immediately go to specialized andrology facilities for timely treatment.
