Doctor Dinh Huu Viet, head of the Department of Andrology, Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital, said that in normal boys, the two testicles are located in the scrotum and are relatively equal in size.
The two testicles are considered undescended if the volume of one side is less than 2/3 of the other side.
"If the testicles are deviated without any other unusual symptoms, men do not need to worry, because this is just a normal phenomenon.
However, if one testicle is higher than the other, or is of different size, you should see a doctor soon to confirm whether there is an abnormality or not.
Especially if accompanied by other symptoms such as testicular pain, swollen scrotum, scrotum that is sometimes big and sometimes small, red or purple... men need to go to medical facilities for timely examination and treatment, because this can be a sign of many dangerous diseases," Dr. Viet advised.
According to Dr. Viet, some causes of changes in testicular size, uneven testicles, one higher than the other, can be complications of mumps, testicular atrophy, vascular disease, testicular tumors, inguinal hernia, hydrocele...
"Another cause is spring testicles, a phenomenon caused by the structure of the testicular suspensory ligament being long and mobile like a spring, allowing the testicles to move. This also changes the state of the scrotum.
"The condition of freely mobile testicles is prone to twisting or moving up, affecting reproductive function. Therefore, in some cases, surgery is needed to fix the testicles," Dr. Viet recommends.
