Accordingly, commune and ward health stations are public health service units, directly under the People's Committee at the grassroots level (commune and ward level) (or directly under the Department of Health).

Commune and ward health stations have legal status, headquarters, seals, and separate accounts that can be opened at the State Treasury and banks in accordance with the law.

The draft also guides each commune and ward to establish at least one commune and ward health station depending on the population size, natural area, geographical characteristics, and socio-economic situation of the communes and wards.

Commune and ward health stations have the function of providing professional and technical services in disease prevention, medical examination and treatment, rehabilitation, health care for mothers and children, the elderly, ensuring food safety; providing medicines, vaccines, basic medical equipment, population services, social protection, social assistance and other medical services according to the provisions of law in the area.

Do I need to reapply for health insurance after the commune or ward changes its name?

After the merger, many communes and wards will change their names, no longer matching the names of the medical centers on the health insurance cards. Many people wonder whether they need to reapply for health insurance cards or not?

Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online about this issue, Hanoi Social Insurance said that people can still use the card with the old address (before the administrative name change) to see a doctor and receive medical treatment and enjoy benefits within the scope as prescribed.
