Every time the martyrs are brought back to their homeland, every time they meet, share and receive information from the martyrs' families, the comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs (HTGĐLS) cannot help but be moved. On the journey of searching, returning names to comrades, helping martyrs' relatives... although there are still many difficulties and hardships, in return, the activities of the Association have partly helped to reassure the relatives and families of martyrs, soothe the pain, and compensate for the loss and pain left by the war.
Having gone through long and arduous wars, Phu Tho is the locality with the largest number of martyrs among the provinces of Military Region 2 with nearly 18,000 martyrs. Promoting the role of a bridge between martyrs' families and all levels, sectors and organizations, since its establishment in more than 10 years, the Association has directly gone to over 800 cemeteries nationwide to collect, share and connect information to search for martyrs' remains, helping more than 7,500 martyrs' families get information about graves, places of sacrifice, cases of sacrifice, and burial places. Supporting DNA identification for 220 cases, of which 54 cases had correct results and supporting the return of more than 200 martyrs' remains to their hometowns.
The Standing Committee of the Association looks up and verifies missing and incorrect information on martyrs' graves.
Identifying the search for information on martyrs and martyrs' graves as a key task, in recent years, the Provincial Association of Martyrs has proactively conducted various forms of information collection through organizations, martyrs' relatives, and Veterans Associations at all levels. In addition, with the support of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Association has been provided with a register of martyrs in the entire province, as a basis for searching when receiving information.
Colonel Pham Quyet Chien - Chairman of the Provincial Association of Martyrs and Martyrs said: Since the beginning of the year, the Association has advised and supported families to move 36 martyrs' remains back to their hometowns and attended the reception, memorial and burial ceremonies; corrected martyrs' information on tombstones and records for 31 cases; deployed support to build 3 gratitude houses, with a total amount of 680 million VND. In the coming time, the Provincial Association of Martyrs and Martyrs will continue to operate in accordance with its principles and purposes, and will be a reliable address, support, and bridge between martyrs' families and relevant agencies, practically contributing to the good work of "Repaying gratitude".
Along with receiving advice and direct support at the headquarters, the Association has also regularly supported and advised on social networking platforms and by phone for families of martyrs on the following contents: Searching for information about martyrs, confirming information about the place where martyrs died, correcting information about martyrs, printing copies of death certificates, reissuing Certificates of National Merit, DNA testing procedures, visiting and moving martyrs' remains...
The Provincial Association of Martyrs and Families brought martyr Dinh Cong Tri, Thach Khoan commune, Thanh Son district, back to his hometown cemetery for burial.
At the same time, the Association has also actively implemented activities to show gratitude and "Repay gratitude" to the families of martyrs through coordination with departments, branches, organizations, businesses, and philanthropists to visit, give gifts, implement preferential policies and regimes for people with revolutionary contributions, support the construction of gratitude houses, give gifts, and savings books to the families of martyrs. Witnessing the relatives of martyrs living in new houses and having a spacious place to worship martyrs, all members of the Association feel warm-hearted.
Talking to us, Colonel Pham Quyet Chien, now over 70 years old, worried: Directly accompanying the relatives of martyrs in searching for their loved ones, witnessing the old mother with a hunched back, her face touching the knees, having to be supported while walking, sobbing next to her child's remains on the day they were brought back to their hometown for burial, we are even more determined to do our best so that our comrades can rest in peace.
With the motto of volunteering, dedication and affection, the Provincial Association of Martyrs and Families has become a common home for martyrs' relatives, a bridge for families to send their trust and hope on the journey to find martyrs.
