Nghi Xuan District (Ha Tinh) has just announced an outbreak of African swine fever in Xuan Pho Commune, and has zoned off areas at high risk of outbreaks in some neighboring areas.
8 pigs infected with African swine fever of Mr. Nguyen Van The's family were destroyed according to the correct procedure.
On November 11, upon receiving information that 2 pigs in a herd of 8 pigs belonging to Mr. Nguyen Van The's family (Thong Nhat village, Xuan Pho commune) showed symptoms of fever and stopped eating, the Center for Application of Science and Technology and Protection of Plants and Livestock of Nghi Xuan district took samples and sent them for testing.
Test results from the Veterinary Department of Region 3 (Vinh City, Nghe An) showed that all samples were positive for African swine fever. Immediately afterwards, the authorities destroyed all 8 pigs with a total weight of 740 kg and instructed farmers to disinfect their barns, tools, and waste according to regulations.
On November 15, Nghi Xuan District People's Committee issued Decision No. 4260/QD-UBND on announcing African swine fever in Xuan Pho commune; at the same time, zoning areas at high risk of outbreaks including Xuan Hai commune and Dan Truong commune.
Nghi Xuan district requires relevant localities, organizations and individuals to strictly implement disease prevention and control measures according to the provisions of the Veterinary Law and guidance documents and directions of functional agencies.
