Having gone through many ups and downs in life, culminating in the pain of losing her right hand, Ms. Nong Thi Hue (37 years old) still strives to overcome adversity, diligently teaching ethnic minority students at Dak Ro Ong Kindergarten (Tu Mo Rong district, Kon Tum province).

We came to Tu Mo Rong district in the early days of November. In the cold weather, the singing of children in the class for 3-4 year olds of Dak Ro Ong Kindergarten warmed our hearts.

Ms. Hue left behind her sadness to teach her students.

Behind the songs and the cheerful laughter of those children is the love and devotion of teacher Nong Thi Hue who lost her right hand, leaving behind her complexes and sadness to bring joy to the children here.

Ms. Hue confided that she was born and raised in Ha Quang district, Cao Bang province. Because of the poverty and hardship in her hometown, Ms. Hue traveled everywhere and finally chose Kon Tum province as her place to settle down.

In 2010, Ms. Hue got married and went to Tu Mo Rong district to work as a preschool teacher. Ms. Hue recalled: "I thought that if I got married and had a stable job, my life would go on peacefully. Unexpectedly, after living together for a while, my husband had a habit of gambling, drinking, and beating his wife and children, making family life increasingly difficult."

In 2017, after many years of patience, Ms. Hue decided to divorce her husband. However, after the divorce, her husband continued to come to the place where the mother and her three children lived to cause trouble. Therefore, she decided to send her two children to a relative's house in Dak Nong province to focus on studying, while she herself stayed in the dormitory at Dak Ro Ong Kindergarten to continue teaching.

Ms. Hue's classroom is beautifully decorated, attracting many students.

Ms. Hue remembers clearly the night of October 2, 2018, when she was sleeping in the school dormitory when her ex-husband broke the door and rushed into the room with a homemade mine, hugging her tightly. The other teachers panicked and ran outside. As a result, Ms. Hue suffered a crushed right hand, a broken left leg, and many injuries to her face.

During the treatment, many times Ms. Hue wanted to give up, but thinking of her two children, Ms. Hue had more motivation to try to overcome the pain and continue her work.

"It took me nearly a year to adapt to my new life. At first, I felt a bit self-conscious and self-conscious, but thanks to participating in disabled groups on social networks and meeting many good people, I received a lot of sympathy and help. Therefore, when I returned to work, I felt that I was still luckier than many other unfortunate people and told myself that I needed to continue to contribute to help many people," Ms. Hue confided.

Returning to work, Ms. Hue has a new ideal in life, she wants to contribute her small efforts to help many disabled people, who are in the same situation as herself, and to help students in difficult circumstances. Wherever she teaches at a school, Ms. Hue is also the "link" to connect philanthropists and donors to the school to organize volunteer activities.

Ms. Hue's appeal was quite simple. Through her Facebook account, Ms. Hue posted articles and real pictures of the school and the daily life of the students. From there, she touched the hearts of many people, connecting with many benefactors inside and outside the province. Many volunteer groups came to the school to organize cooking for the children. On the days of Mid-Autumn Festival, Lunar New Year... there were volunteer groups bringing many gifts such as cakes, candies, school supplies... to give to the children, making the teachers in the school feel warm.

Along with that, in teaching, Ms. Hue is a very responsible teacher, using love to make up for the students. Although she has certain difficulties, Ms. Hue always knows how to overcome them. She skillfully uses her feet and right hand to create decorative products in the classroom with funny images, or creates colorful toys and learning tools to attract students to class, using the defect of her lost hand to create highlights, or creating shapes when telling stories or performing arts for students.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thin - Principal of Dak Ro Commune Kindergarten, commented that Ms. Hue is a very enthusiastic and determined teacher in both work and life. She always cares for each student, using her love and passion for teaching to make up for the shortage of ethnic minority students here. Therefore, whenever she goes to any school, Ms. Hue is loved by the students and parents there.

In addition to doing a good job professionally, Ms. Hue also regularly calls on benefactors to help disadvantaged students, helping to improve their lives a lot.
