The Investigation Police Agency of District 8 Police and Ho Chi Minh City Police are currently focusing on taking statements from suspect Nguyen Van Nhu (28 years old, from Ha Nam) to clarify details related to the murder and arson that left 3 people dead on the afternoon of November 21.
The three deceased victims included: Ms. LTMD (32 years old), NLHP (3 years old, Ms. D.'s child) and TMTK (2 years old, a neighbor's child that Ms. D. took care of).
Initially, Nhu confessed that he attacked Ms. D. and the two children because of a love conflict.
At around 4:30 p.m. on November 21, Nhu rode a motorbike carrying a can of gasoline to Ms. D's house in alley 260 Luu Huu Phuoc Street, Ward 15, District 8.
Here, Nhu used a knife to kill Ms. D., then poured gasoline on the floor, locked the door, set fire, and locked Ms. D. and the two children inside.
Hearing the screams, the neighbors came running, Nhu ran away on foot, leaving behind a motorbike. After running a short distance, Nhu took off his bloody shirt, threw it away and took a motorbike taxi to escape.
Neighbors tried to rescue her but were unsuccessful because the door was locked. When the professional fire department arrived, they quickly controlled the fire and discovered that inside the house, Ms. D. and her two children had died.
When Nhu fled the scene near Nguyen Tri Phuong Bridge, District 8, he was chased, restrained and arrested by the Military Command of Ward 15, District 8. At the police station, Nhu admitted his actions.
It is known that the victim D. is divorced from her husband and currently lives with her young child in the above house.
