The event is part of a series of talk shows on copyright and music publishing initiated by HanoiJam, attracting the attention of many young artists in the capital, experts in the fields of music and law such as lawyers and lecturers.
The two main speakers at the talk show "From Melody to Copyright: Protecting Your Music" are singer Giang Pham - a Vietnamese artist who has achieved more than 400 million listens on global online platforms and Dr. Ji Heon Oh, a music and entertainment lawyer from Seoul, Korea.
After more than 10 years of composing and performing music live and on professional digital platforms, Giang Pham (real name Pham Huong Giang, born in 1993) believes that independent artists in Vietnam today have a lot of talent, but many have lost money and benefits due to not understanding copyright and related rights.

The program answers many questions from artists, musicians, producers, music businesses... |
Giang Pham founded and runs the HanoiJam community to create a professional playground for independent artists, constantly learning and updating music and copyright laws to help artists generate legitimate income and sustain their passion for music. HanoiJam was established in November 2024, currently gathering nearly 100 independent artists working regularly in Hanoi, most of whom are young people of the Gen Z generation.
From his own experience and the problems that independent artists often encounter, Giang Pham presented in detail the methods of legally releasing music through popular digital platforms today, the terms in music contracts that are often missed or misunderstood...
The female singer and musician also repeatedly emphasized that young artists and independent artists should proactively register copyright with competent authorities, such as the Vietnam Center for Music Copyright Protection (VCPMC), to have a basis for resolving and shortening the time when disputes or other legal issues arise.

In the Q&A section, Dr. and lawyer Ji Heon Oh answered questions about protecting rights and optimizing income from music products. |
With 13 years of experience at One Law Partners and currently a lecturer at Seoul Arts, Mr. Ji Heon Oh is a leading expert in the field of intellectual property law and music. The international expert expressed his impression of the dynamism and creativity of the contemporary music market in Vietnam and supported young independent artists in their creative journey, bringing their works to the world.
In South Korea, a country with a thriving music industry in the region and a strong globalization, independent artists not only compose and release music in traditional ways but also collaborate with online game producers (video games), webtoons (comics published online)... Although the legal systems of each country are different, there are still common points to note when entering the international music market dominated by transnational digital platforms.
After the positive effect of the talk show series, the Organizing Committee said that in the near future, they will launch a number of professional performance programs, connecting with music clubs in high schools and universities... to continue expanding and strengthening support activities for young artists in Hanoi.
