Rumored to have a fake doctorate, what does artist Bach Tuyet say?
Based on readers' comments, on the morning of November 28, Tuoi Tre Online contacted artist Bach Tuyet's manager.
Artist Bach Tuyet's representative said: "From 1991 to 1995, artist Bach Tuyet studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. In October 1995, she successfully defended her doctoral thesis."

This confirmation document is dated October 31, 1995.
In addition, the representative of artist Bach Tuyet also provided a photo of the document sent by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Bulgaria to the Ministry of Culture and Information and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee on December 19, 1995, regarding the successful defense of artist Bach Tuyet's thesis and her being awarded the title of "Doctor of Arts".

To have a basis to conclude whether a specific degree is recognized or not, it is necessary to follow the correct procedures and rely on fully provided documents as prescribed.
Therefore, if artist Bach Tuyet wants to have her doctorate recognized, she needs to submit an application with confirmation documents from the embassy and documents proving her learning process and doctoral thesis defense to the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, for consideration and issuance of a certificate of recognition of the value of the degree.
Currently, artist Bach Tuyet has not completed the procedure to confirm her doctorate degree.
Artist Bach Tuyet's doctoral thesis not found
However, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , an education expert in the UK said:
"Searching the list of RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art - PV) alumni, I couldn't find Ms. Tuyet, even if I searched by her last name, first name, or any letter in her name at the address: https://www.rada.ac.uk/profiles
Assuming that Ms. Tuyet's diploma photo is real, the diploma does not appear to be a doctorate, but simply a certificate of merit.
The signature on the certificate of commendation appears to be the genuine signature of RADA's principal at the time in 1995, Nicholas Barter - RADA's principal from 1993-2007.
His signature also appears on other RADA degrees and certificates from the period when Nicholas Barter was principal.
No doctoral thesis titled "The adaptation of the traditional theatrical art of Southeast Asian countries with modern living conditions of the audience in the 21st century" as reported in the press was found.
I have preliminarily concluded that Ms. Tuyet only has a certificate of merit from RADA, but is not a former student or has a doctorate from RADA."
On January 17, Forbes selected artist Bach Tuyet into the top 50 women over 50 years old (50 Over 50) with the greatest influence in Asia.
Regarding this choice, the magazine wrote: "Nguyen Thi Bach Tuyet (full name) is an artist for every household in Vietnam, known for her Cai Luong music - a modern form of traditional opera.
She received her doctorate in 1995 and, at the age of 60, was recognized as a People's Artist, Vietnam's highest recognition for those in the creative industry.
