Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Day 2023

With the desire to promote the image of Vietnam's innovation and development, thereby consolidating the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, the Ministry of Information and Communications in coordination with the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province organized the Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival Program in 2023 (hereinafter referred to as the Program) with the theme: Information and communication, a bright spot in the Vietnam - Laos cooperation relationship.

The program takes place from November 11 to 15; opening at 9:00 a.m. on November 11, at the Thua Thien Hue Cultural-Cinema Center, 41A Hung Vuong, Phu Nhuan Ward, Hue City.

Regarding the Festival, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam said that the program "Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023" is an activity to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Laos diplomatic relations (1962 - 2023) and the 46th anniversary of the signing of the friendship and cooperation treaty between the two countries (1977 - 2023).

In the current renovation process of each country, both Vietnam and Laos have achieved great and historic achievements in economics, society and foreign affairs, helping the close cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Laos to become increasingly stronger and expand in many fields.

Inheriting the results of the Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival held in 2018 in Dien Bien province and in 2019 in Nghe An province, this year, the Program Organizing Committee will further promote foreign information activities with three pillars: Strengthening Vietnam - Laos cooperation in the field of information and communication; Strengthening investment activities, trade promotion, tourism between Vietnam and Laos in general and between localities sharing the border in particular; Strengthening people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, especially people in provinces bordering Vietnam - Laos.

The program includes a series of meaningful events, demonstrating the close friendship between the people of the two countries, including: Photo Exhibition, Fair - Exhibition, Scientific Seminar and Vietnam - Laos Art Exchange Night.

The photo exhibition with a total of 200 photos is divided into 4 topics: 61 years of history of special friendship between Vietnam and Laos; Vietnam and Laos on the path of development; Outstanding achievements in Vietnam - Laos cooperation in the field of information and communication; Thua Thien Hue accompanying the country's development.

The Fair - Exhibition with more than 50 booths, was organized with the highlight being the booths of Vietnam News Agency, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Voice of Vietnam Radio... with information publications, media programs in Lao language. In addition, there was also the companionship of information technology and telecommunications enterprises such as Viettel, VNPT, VTC; enterprises operating in the fields of tourism, trade... with typical OCOP products of Hue and the provinces and cities in the Central region.

The scientific seminar with the theme "Prospects of Vietnam - Laos press and media cooperation: Challenges and solutions" is an opportunity for speakers from both countries to discuss journalism, digital transformation trends in press and media as well as the role of information and propaganda in promoting trade and increasing investment between the two countries.

In addition to specialized events, there will be cultural and artistic exchange activities between the people of Vietnam and Laos, especially between the ethnic people of Thua Thien Hue province and the two provinces of Salavan and Sekong, between Vietnamese students and Lao students living and studying in Hue.
