Many issues regarding human resources for transport infrastructure were raised at the announcement ceremony of the establishment of the Deo Ca Training Research Institute (DIC) between Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport and Deo Ca Group on the afternoon of September 30 in Ho Chi Minh City.
DCI was established with the goal of conducting in-depth research activities, receiving and transferring new and sustainable technologies in the field of construction works and transport infrastructure in Vietnam.

Activities contribute to providing high-quality human resources with knowledge and practical skills that have been trained for businesses and organizations operating in the fields of construction, infrastructure and transportation.
At the same time, advise on policies and strategies for developing materials technology and Vietnam's transport infrastructure.
In addition, the Institute will become the focal point for organizing seminars, gathering policy issues, shortages of human resources, and training facilities to make recommendations to the Government and relevant ministries and sectors with relevant policies and mechanisms.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Lai Xuan Mon - Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department - assessed this as a new and creative model.
"This innovative approach will help improve the quality of human resources, build a team of experts for the transportation industry and other fields, contributing to the implementation of the Party's resolution to become an industrialized country by 2025. We will refer to this model and include it in documents to develop projects for education and technology," Mr. Lai Xuan Mon shared.
Need about 10,000 high quality transport workers
At the seminar "Developing human resources for transport infrastructure" within the framework of the launching ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong - Director of the Vietnam Road Administration, Ministry of Transport - said that the plan is to have 3,000 km of expressways nationwide by 2025, about 5,000 km by 2030 and about 10,000 km by 2050.

The investment strategy for the construction of high-speed railways and metro systems has also been determined to be implemented in the period 2025-2035. With such a workload plan, it requires the mobilization of many social resources, especially a huge human resource in terms of quantity and high quality.
To meet this requirement, according to Dr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, in the coming time, the transportation industry needs at least 10,000 high-quality human resources.
Mr. Ho Minh Hoang - Chairman of Deo Ca Group - informed that the demand for human resources in the transport infrastructure is currently very high. In the group alone, in 2023, there is a plan to recruit about 2,300 new employees. The new recruitment plan is expected to grow by about 20% over the previous year.
According to Mr. Hoang, to develop human resources in this field, we need to identify two things that cannot be borrowed: people and culture. People must be self-trained and practiced in all aspects of knowledge, capacity, and skills, while culture must be built with great effort.
From the perspective of a trainer, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport - said that with the high demand for human resources in the market, current transport infrastructure human resources graduating from school do not have to worry about output.
Mr. Tuan emphasized that training in the field of transportation must closely follow reality and social needs, not rely on what we have. Along with that, we must promote scientific research activities and anticipate trends to meet practical needs.

Mr. Tuan informed that the school will research a training program aimed at sending students to work in businesses. Thereby, students will have the opportunity to gain experience, receive professional guidance from engineers, and transform knowledge into skills to select the highest quality human resources for the industry.
Associate Professor Dr. Tran Chung - Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Road Traffic Construction Investors (VARSI) - pointed out that the current situation of human resources in traffic infrastructure has not met the requirements in terms of both quantity and quality. This requires breakthrough projects in technology, labor organization science, and corporate culture to create a change in awareness of the profession and radically innovate policies on remuneration for workers.
In addition, according to Mr. Chung, we need to have a way to encourage the application of special technology in the digital age to create high labor productivity in structural construction.
