The National Assembly has just passed a resolution on the organization of urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang city.
In particular, the National Assembly agreed to establish the Da Nang Free Trade Zone associated with Lien Chieu seaport, with the goal of attracting investment, finance, trade, tourism and high-quality services.
Lien Chieu Port started construction on December 14, 2022 with a total planned area of 1,285 hectares, including a port area of 450 hectares, the remaining area is planned to become industrial parks, logistics centers... associated with the exploitation of Lien Chieu port area.

Lien Chieu Port is located at the foot of Hai Van Pass, in Hoa Hiep Bac Ward (Lien Chieu District, Da Nang). The south is planned to border the Cu De River mouth, the east is planned to border Da Nang Bay.
Lien Chieu Port includes 8 container terminals receiving ships of 30,000-200,000 DWT, 6 general terminals receiving ships of 30,000-100,000 DWT, a terminal for SB ships 1,230m long...
The port is planned to reduce the load on the existing Tien Sa Port, reduce pressure on road traffic passing through Da Nang city center, strengthen regional and inter-regional connectivity, and contribute to the sustainable socio-economic development of Da Nang and the region.
Workers have been rushing to speed up the progress, trying to complete the construction items early. Thousands of cubic meters of earth and rock have been dumped into the sea to shape the dike system and breakwater from afar.
Connecting to the current Lien Chieu seaport is Nguyen Van Cu Street. This route connects to Nguyen Luong Bang Street, from there connecting the center of Lien Chieu district and the center of Da Nang city. The route also has a branch to the direction of Hai Van tunnel.
Da Nang is also investing in a road connecting Lien Chieu port with National Highway 1A and the Hai Van - Tuy Loan bypass connecting the flow of goods in and out of the port with the national transport network.
The project started construction in September 2023, with a total investment of more than 1,200 billion VND with many different items to ensure convenient vehicle traffic in and out of the port.

Near Lien Chieu seaport is Kim Lien Station on the North-South railway line. According to the reporter's investigation, after renovation, Kim Lien Station will connect with Lien Chieu seaport.
People living near the Lien Chieu seaport construction area mainly work in nearshore fishing. Mr. Huynh Van Mai (68 years old, resident of Hoa Hiep Bac ward) expressed that he welcomed the investment in building the Lien Chieu seaport area to develop the local economy. However, he suggested that there should be a direction to change occupations for affected fishermen.
It is known that the logistics area is expected to be concentrated at Lien Chieu seaport, while the production area is expected to be located in Hoa Vang district.
Logistics services are commercial activities, a collection of delivery activities and work related to the supply process, transportation, warehousing, customs procedures, distribution of goods, etc. Thus, it can be seen that with great potential, Lien Chieu seaport will be an important "gateway" contributing to helping Da Nang break through and reach new heights.

Notably, the National Assembly agreed to establish the Da Nang Free Trade Zone associated with Lien Chieu seaport, with the goal of attracting investment, finance, trade, tourism and high-quality services.
Da Nang Free Trade Zone has functional areas specified in the Prime Minister's establishment decision, including production areas, logistics centers, trade - service areas and other types of functional areas according to law.
This Resolution takes effect from January 1, 2025. The pilot implementation period of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang city is 5 years.
