The Traffic Maintenance Management Board (QLBTGT) under the Department of Transport (DOT) of Quang Tri is assigned to manage and regularly maintain roads, including Provincial Road 575b, an important traffic axis connecting National Highway 1 from Gio Linh town to Ho Chi Minh Road, Eastern branch. Currently, this provincial road is being upgraded and expanded in many sections.

Provincial Road 575b is 12.1km long, a level 4 plain road, with a 9m wide roadbed, 5.5m asphalt concrete road surface, the starting point intersects National Highway 1 at km 743+703 in Gio Linh town, the ending point intersects Ho Chi Minh Road, East branch at km 1067+625 in Xuan Hoa village, Gio An commune, Gio Linh district.
The Traffic Management Board said that the route passes through 4 communes and towns including Gio Linh town, Gio Chau commune, Phong Binh commune and Gio An commune. This is an important route for traffic in the West of Gio Linh district connecting with the Northwest region of the province via the East branch of Ho Chi Minh road. Therefore, the traffic density on the route is quite high, causing many sections of the road to frequently deteriorate and be severely damaged, requiring investment and maintenance to ensure safe and smooth traffic, promote socio-economic development of the region and contribute to ensuring national defense and security.
In recent years, Provincial Road 575b has received investment in repairing and maintaining many sections. In 2021, the Department of Transport invested nearly 5 billion VND to repair the road surface and drainage of two severely damaged sections passing through two densely populated areas, including: the section from km 0+000 to km 1+000 and the section from km 7+200 to km 7+900. In particular, the roadbed width will be kept at 9m, the road surface width will be 5.5m; the shoulder on each side will be reinforced with 0.75m wide asphalt and 1m of dirt; a longitudinal drainage system and drainage culverts will be built across residential crossroads.
The road surface in these two sections has been re-paved with asphalt concrete. In 2022, the Department of Transport will continue to invest more than 14 billion VND to repair the road surface and build drainage ditches for many sections on the DT.575B route that have been severely damaged.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ninh in Phong Binh commune, who often travels on this road, said that since the road was upgraded and expanded, the quality has improved, the road surface is no longer bumpy, so people travel very safely, not only him but also people living on both sides of this road are very satisfied.
However, on Provincial Road 575b, there are still many sections that have not been upgraded, making traffic difficult. Therefore, in July 2024, the Department of Transport approved the economic and technical report on investment in the construction of the roadbed and road surface repair project at km 5+982 - km 6+458; km 8+400 - km 9+000 of the provincial road, assigning the Traffic Management Board to be the investor representative. Accordingly, on the basis of the old roadbed being 9.0m wide, the old road surface being 5.5m wide, the two sides will be widened to ensure the road surface is 7.0m wide (ensuring the scale of a grade IV road for the entire route).
Strengthen the foundation layer and pavement with 5cm thick C16 asphalt concrete. Along with that, reinforce the curb and slope from km 8+400 to km 8+837.56 with cement concrete to ensure roadbed stability; supplement and reinforce the longitudinal drainage ditch with trapezoidal paving slabs combined with reinforcing the curb with cement concrete in sections passing through densely populated areas. Construct 2 new drainage culverts along the left side of the route at km 5+998.31 and km 8+785.07; connect 5 locations with existing cross-roads according to the current status.
At the same time, reinforce the roadside from km 5+982 - km 6+147.20 (left side) with a length of 155.0m and the section from km 8+400 - km 8+837.56 (both sides of the route) with a length of 800.77m. For the section from km 8+412.04 - km 8+822.60, to ensure roadbed stability, reinforce the roadbed slope with cement concrete with a total length of 721.84m, of which the left side is 382.76m long and the right side is 339.08m long. Take advantage of, adjust, and raise signs and paint the road centerline.
Along with that, 54 markers will be added on the route at curves and intersections; 4 triangular signs, and signaling system details will comply with the National Technical Regulation on Road Signs QCVN41:2019/BGTVT... The project is being implemented and strives to be completed in 2024 from local transportation funding sources.
According to the Department of Transport, based on the project list, the Traffic Management Board strives to ensure construction progress and quality, promptly disbursing 100% of the assigned capital plan to gradually complete the project, contributing to improving the project's lifespan, increasing operational efficiency, and ensuring traffic safety for people and vehicles participating in traffic.
Chairman of Gio Linh District People's Committee Vo Dac Hoa said that in addition to serving the socio-economic development of the western region of the district, this is an important road section, connecting with National Highway 1 to serve tourists from all over the country when visiting Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery. The district hopes that the Department of Transport will soon complete upgrading the remaining section of the route so that people's daily travel will be more convenient and safer.
