An Phu Agricultural Cooperative, Chieng An Ward, established in 2019, from 10 initial members, up to now, the Cooperative has grown to 18 members and has linked production with 26 households in Mai Son district and the City, producing 40 hectares of fruit trees according to VietGAP standards, including plums, dragon fruit, custard apples...
Mr. Quang Van Chung, Director of An Phu Agricultural Cooperative, said: When it was first established, the cooperative received support from local authorities to build a safe production model according to VietGAP standards; support for packaging, labels and training in technology transfer. In addition, the cooperative has proactively researched and implemented grafting and renovating fruit gardens, applied crop rotation techniques and selected new suitable varieties, improving product quality and value. Each year, the cooperative produces about 500 tons of various fruits, supplying safe vegetable and fruit stores in Son La city, Hoa Binh, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Lao Cai provinces and some wholesale markets in Hanoi. Each member's income is about 200 million VND/year.

Chieng Set Agricultural Cooperative, Tong Xet village, Chieng Den commune, established in 2019, has 15 members, producing 40 hectares of coffee intercropped with plums and apricots. From 2022 to present, the Cooperative has cooperated with Bich Thao Coffee Cooperative, Hua La commune to grow and process specialty coffee. Mr. Quang Van Dien, Director of the Cooperative, said: With the support of the City, the Cooperative has invested in a 400 m² solar drying system; in addition, the Cooperative has cooperated to purchase and consume coffee for households in the commune. This year's coffee crop alone, the Cooperative has purchased and processed over 100 tons of fresh coffee, of which about 12 tons of specialty green coffee beans were produced.
Currently, the City has 71 cooperatives, with a total of 880 members, an increase of 7 cooperatives compared to 2021. Cooperatives focus on investing, expanding production, applying science and technology, creating high-quality products and developing diverse services, becoming a bridge, supporting farmers in production, supplying plant varieties, agricultural materials, processing and consuming agricultural products.
Mr. Tran Cong Chinh, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, said: In the period of 2021-2023, the City has supported 5 enterprises and cooperatives to build safe production models and be granted VietGAP certificates; supported 8 enterprises and cooperatives to build a brand identity system and trace the origin of products, packaging, and labels, with a total budget of over 640 million VND. At the same time, support was given to build local OCOP products. To date, there are 10 products in the city that meet OCOP standards; of which 1 product has 5 stars, 5 products have 4 stars and 4 products have 3 stars.

The proactive association and application of science and technology in production by cooperatives in the city, along with local support, has motivated cooperatives to expand production and business, increase income, and contribute to the construction of new rural areas in the area. Currently, the average revenue reaches 650 million VND/cooperative/year; the average income of members increases from 45 million VND in 2021 to 60 million VND in 2023. In addition, cooperatives create regular jobs for more than 450 local workers.
To improve the operational efficiency of cooperatives, the City continues to implement policies to support cooperatives in innovating their operating methods; creating conditions for cooperatives to access preferential capital sources to invest in production and business development, contributing to promoting the restructuring of the agricultural sector, building new rural areas and developing the local economy and society.
