The province currently has more than 70 units operating in electricity retail distribution. To ensure the maintenance of the power grid infrastructure in the construction of new rural areas (NTM), contributing to ensuring the implementation of the construction of advanced NTM and model NTM in the area, in 2023, the Provincial People's Committee approved the "Project to improve the quality of power grid infrastructure in rural areas in Vinh Phuc province" with the goal of the period 2023 - 2025, striving for 100% of organizations and units managing electricity sales in rural areas to operate effectively, in accordance with the provisions of law.
At the same time, invest in building new and increasing the capacity of 341 substations with a total expected capacity of more than 141 thousand kVA from the electricity industry's capital; reduce power loss in the low-voltage grid in rural areas across the province to below 8%...
To realize the above goal, the Department of Industry and Trade has organized and deployed to electricity distribution and retail enterprises in the province; assigned specific tasks to staff, assigned specialized departments to implement and regularly reported progress, difficulties and problems in the implementation process to promptly have solutions and propose to the Provincial People's Committee to adjust in accordance with reality.
The People's Committees of districts and cities have directed rural electricity retailers to review and correctly assess the current status of the power grid infrastructure under their management; periodically inspect and comprehensively assess the current power grid system; prepare detailed reports on the status, level of degradation or common incidents of transformer stations and power lines. At the same time, develop annual renovation and repair plans, prioritizing key areas or areas at high risk of incidents.
In 2024, rural electricity retail business units recruited 22 new employees with appropriate training majors; sent 38 employees for training to improve their professional qualifications in the assigned field to support the conversion. Rural electricity retail management organizations mobilized more than 446.8 billion VND from legal resources to invest in the construction, development, and upgrading of the rural low-voltage grid system.
Thanks to that, the quality of electricity is increasingly improved, stable, fully and promptly meeting the living needs of people and developing production, services, and industries in rural areas, reducing power loss and improving reliability for socio-economic development.
Making efforts to invest and upgrade the power system to serve economic development and people's lives in the area, in 2023 - 2024, Tam Hong Electricity Company Limited, Tam Hong town (Yen Lac) invested more than 1 billion VND to renovate and upgrade transmission lines; install and put into operation 100% of electronic meters and remote measurement data collection systems to replace mechanical meters.
This not only helps customers easily look up and monitor electricity usage and change electricity consumption behavior, making electricity trading activities more transparent, but also reduces the number of workers recording meter readings and improves labor productivity.
Mr. Pham Xuan Phong, Director of Tam Hong Electricity Company Limited, said: The company is managing 20 transformer stations with nearly 30km of low-voltage lines, supplying electricity to nearly 5,000 households, 100% of the meters meet technical standards, ensuring power quality and safety according to the requirements of the electricity industry. According to the plan, in 2025, the company will continue to renovate and upgrade some power supply lines of residential groups with overload phenomenon. At the same time, replace poor quality switching and metering equipment with a total cost of 500 - 700 million VND to ensure reliability across the entire power grid, providing stable electricity supply to the people.
Implementing the program of building advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas and realizing the goal of the Project to improve the quality of power grid infrastructure in rural areas, Nguyet Duc commune (Yen Lac) continuously invests in and upgrades the rural power grid infrastructure in the area.
In the past 2 years, the commune has implemented 4 projects to improve and renovate the power grid infrastructure with a total investment of more than 20 billion VND. Up to now, 100% of the traffic routes from the commune center to the alleys are covered with standard lighting. For the lighting system at many central locations of the commune and villages, investment has been made in building welcome gates and installing decorative lights, creating an increasingly spacious and prosperous rural appearance.
In 2025, Nguyet Duc Power Joint Stock Company plans to replace and upgrade more than 2 km of power lines with a total investment of about 900 million VND, meeting the increasing demand for electricity for daily life, production and business of the people.
To improve the rural power grid infrastructure, in the coming time, electricity distribution and retail units will focus on mobilizing investment capital to renovate the power grid to meet the long-term electricity needs of the people, avoiding fragmented investment based on temporary solutions.
Along with that, improve management capacity, operational management capacity, improve customer service quality; increase propaganda, mobilize customers to use electricity economically, safely and effectively; limit the use of devices that consume a lot of electricity during peak hours.
