Male student entered the exam room on a stretcher

Quang Tri Bui Phan Duc Tien broke his leg on the road but still wanted to take the 10th grade exam to get the score to enter the specialized Math class.

On the morning of June 2, Duc Tien, a student at Dong Ha Secondary School, was taken by his mother on a motorbike to the exam site at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Dong Ha City) to take the 10th grade entrance exam. On the way, Tien and his mother fell.

At Quang Tri General Hospital, the male student was diagnosed with a broken leg. However, Tien and his mother both wanted to return to school to take the exam to get the score to be admitted to the 10th grade math class.

Ms. Le Thi Huong, Director of the Quang Tri Department of Education and Training, said that Tien was eager to take the exam. This was his right and his effort after 9 years of studying. Therefore, after being temporarily bandaged by doctors, the exam steering committee sent an ambulance to take him to the exam room. Tien took the exam in a private room, using backup exam papers under the supervision of police and medical staff.

The 10th grade entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year in Quang Tri province took place on June 1-3 with more than 9,600 candidates participating, with a quota of about 9,100.

Candidates must take three exams: Math, Literature and English. Candidates applying to Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted must take an additional specialized subject on June 3.

Since June 1, many provinces and cities across the country have simultaneously organized public 10th grade entrance exams such as Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hai Duong... Yesterday, Hai Phong also allowed three candidates to take the exam in a separate room with a recording device, camera and security surveillance due to unavoidable circumstances, including one student with a broken arm. This student will take the test by reading the answers, the invigilator will write them for him, then mark the answer sheet before submitting it. This is applied according to the High School Graduation Exam Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
