Traditional meeting of veterans of Division 2, Military Region 5

Speaking at the meeting, veteran Nguyen Dang San, Head of the Traditional Liaison Committee of Division 2 - Quang Ninh and generations of officers and veterans of the Division together reviewed the glorious historical tradition of the heroic Division 2.

Accordingly, Division 2 was established on October 20, 1965, in An Lam village, Phuoc Ha commune (now Dai Trang village, Tien Ha commune), Tien Phuoc district, Quang Nam province. After 60 years of construction, fighting and growing, Division 2 has been twice honored by the Party and State as a Hero of the People's Armed Forces and many other noble awards. In addition, the Division has 30 collectives and 19 individuals honored with the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces...

The delegates expressed their remembrance of more than 52,000 martyrs of Division 2 who sacrificed their lives during the resistance war; their pride in the legendary division commander Senior Lieutenant General, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Nguyen Chon; Martyr, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Truong Hong Anh...

Veteran Nguyen Dang San affirmed: "As officers and soldiers of the heroic Division 2, we are not allowed to be complacent and never forget the days when we were in the unit. Veterans of the Division 2 must always promote the good qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers; strictly comply with the Party's guidelines, policies, the State's laws and regulations in our homeland; contribute to building a more prosperous homeland, and contribute more to society."

Sharing with reporters of the Electronic People's Army Newspaper, Lieutenant General Pham Chan Ly, former Director of the Military Department, former Deputy Division Commander and Chief of Staff of Division 2, said: "The meeting coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, so the delegates were all very excited. Many people had tears in their eyes, hugging their comrades who fought side by side in the past; chatting intimately, asking about each other's health and families. In today's meeting, there were people who perhaps hadn't seen each other in half a century."

Veteran Nguyen Thi My Nu, former medical staff of Division 2, currently living in Son Tra district, Da Nang city, shared: "When I received the invitation to attend this meeting in Ha Long, I was very happy and moved because I could meet my comrades again; to share joys and sorrows, to recall memories of the days of fighting together, under bombs and bullets, but most of all, the spirit of determination to win in order to contribute to the resistance war to liberate the South. Although our health is not as good as before, all of us are over 75 years old, some are nearly 80 years old, but we are very excited and determined to go."
