Nam Dinh: Opening of Phu Day Festival 2025

Attending the opening ceremony were Ms. Ha Lan Anh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Vu Duc Tho - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Tran Minh Hoan, Secretary of Vu Ban District Party Committee; leaders of departments, branches, sectors, organizations and many Buddhist followers from districts and cities of Nam Dinh.

The Phu Day Festival 2025 will take place from March 31 to April 5 (ie from the 3rd to the 8th of the 3rd lunar month). On March 31 (ie the 3rd of the 3rd lunar month), the festival opening ceremony, incense offering and folk cultural and sports activities will be held at the Phu Day relic complex. On April 1 (ie the 4th of the 3rd lunar month), the Chau Van singing art festival will be held at Phu Tien Huong and Phu Van Cat.

On April 2 (the 5th day of the 3rd lunar month), a ceremony to bring the Mother Goddess to the Buddhist scriptures will be held from Van Cat Palace to Bang Pagoda (Linh Son Pagoda); in the evening, a torch-lit procession and fireworks will be held at Tien Huong Palace. On April 3 (the 6th day of the 3rd lunar month), a ceremony to bring the Mother Goddess to the Buddhist scriptures will be held from Tien Huong Palace to Tien Huong Pagoda (Tien Linh Pagoda); a human chess competition will be held at Van Cat Palace.

On April 4 and 5 (ie March 7 and 8 of the lunar calendar), at Van Cat Palace and Tien Huong Palace, a calligraphy festival will take place with the characters “Mother of the world” and “National peace and security”. During the festival, there will also be special spiritual and cultural activities, folk arts such as: spirit mediumship, singing, lion-monk-dragon dance, dragon release, cheo singing, etc.

Ms. Ha Lan Anh - Vice Chairman of Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee delivered the opening speech.

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Lan Anh emphasized: The Phu Day historical and cultural relic complex and Phu Day Festival have increasingly affirmed their position and become an attractive spiritual tourist destination for domestic and international visitors. Up to now, Phu Day Festival has maintained its scale, worthy of being one of the typical festivals of Nam Dinh province as well as of national significance.

In order for the Phu Day Festival 2025 to take place safely and healthily, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the District Party Committee and the People's Committee of Vu Ban District to direct the Festival Organizing Committee, the People's Committee of Kim Thai Commune, the head of the incense burner, and the temple's members to strictly implement the Law on Cultural Heritage, the Law on Beliefs and Religions, and the guiding documents of the Government, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the province on festival management and organization.

At the same time, promote the dissemination of the Regulations on management, protection and promotion of the value of Phu Day historical-cultural relic complex; improve the effectiveness and efficiency of State management of relics and festivals in the direction of assigning the community as the cultural subject to directly participate in relic management and practice rituals for intangible cultural heritage, avoiding deviations and distortions.

Ensure good security, order, social safety, disease prevention and control; especially traffic safety, fire prevention and control at relics, focus on solving problems such as environmental sanitation, begging, selling goods in the relics. Create favorable conditions for people and tourists to visit, travel, participate in spiritual and cultural activities, cultural exchange, and connect the community.

The festival attracted a large number of local Buddhists to attend.

Phu Day Festival is one of the five major traditional festivals of Vietnam, associated with the legend of Holy Mother Lieu Hanh - one of the "Four Immortals" in Vietnamese folk beliefs.
