Tourism performance of many localities in the first 6 months of the year continued to show bright colors in terms of number of visitors and revenue, affirming the destination brand.

However, facing new challenges such as tourist demand and tour prices affected by the increased costs of some services, functional units and each tourism and service business are flexibly implementing solutions to attract tourists during the peak summer tourist season.

Number of visitors increased sharply

According to information from many southern localities, the number of tourists and revenue achieved in the first 6 months of 2024, including times that "attract" a large number of tourists such as Tet and the April 30-May 1 holidays, continue to demonstrate the attractiveness of many destinations to domestic and foreign tourists.

In the first six months of the year, Ho Chi Minh City tourism is estimated to welcome more than 17 million domestic tourists and more than 2.67 million international tourists. Total tourism revenue increased by about 14.6% over the same period in 2023.

In the Mekong Delta, Bac Lieu province, with its strengths in cultural tourism and ecological experiences, welcomed over 3.1 million visitors, of which over 1.2 million used accommodation services.

Dong Thap welcomed over 2.8 million tourists, with revenue reaching over VND 1,130 billion, an increase of over 8% over the same period in 2023.

Ben Tre tourism welcomed nearly 1.3 million visitors, reaching more than 52% of the yearly plan, up over 18% over the same period, total revenue from tourism reached over 1,590 billion VND.

Kien Giang province is estimated to welcome over 5.4 million visitors, with total tourism revenue reaching over VND 13,390 billion, an increase of nearly 28% over the same period in 2023.

Sharing about solutions to attract tourists during the summer tourist season, a representative of the Kien Giang Department of Tourism (one of the key tourist localities in the Mekong Delta) said that Kien Giang tourism is promoting the implementation of the program "Vietnamese people travel to Vietnam - Vietnam I love" launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, encouraging and creating all favorable conditions for travel, accommodation and resort businesses to actively innovate products, widely inform about high-quality product and service "packages", increasing the experience of tourists at prominent destinations such as Phu Quoc, Ha Tien, Kien Luong.

Kien Giang tourism strives to welcome 9.2 million domestic and international visitors in 2024, continuing to affirm its position as an attractive destination on the domestic and international tourism map.

Journey of integrating many experiences

Some tourism market analysts say that currently, tourist travel trends have changed.

Many tourists want their destination not only to take souvenir photos, stop by or simply relax, but also to experience life, history, culture, cuisine... Among them are popular tourism trends such as "escape" the heat, "heal," explore cuisine, and integrate many experiences in one vacation.

From the perspective of a travel business, designing and exploiting many domestic and international tour packages, a representative of Saigontourist Travel Service Company said that during the summer tourist season, along with overseas tour programs, the business actively innovates, serving tourists with a variety of tour packages with a series of outstanding destinations and richer experiences.

Ms. Tong Ngoc Anh Hong, representative of XO Tour Company in Ho Chi Minh City, said that to grasp the needs of tourists, the business focuses on integrating experiences that explore and learn about unique cultures and urban life from many perspectives such as culinary culture, people's living habits or trading activities at traditional markets... The business continues to exploit and serve tourists with motorbike tours to visit Ho Chi Minh City.
