IELTS score conversion rate in 2025 of 20 universities

Specifically, with IELTS 4.0, candidates can apply to Vietnam National University of Agriculture, Hanoi Capital University and Saigon University. However, each school has different conversion rates, respectively 6, 7.5 and 8 points for English.

Most of the remaining schools accept IELTS certificates of 5.0 or higher. Many schools give candidates 10 points in English with IELTS 6.5, such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi Open University, University of Electricity, University of Mining and Geology, Academy of Finance, Vietnam Women's Academy.

According to the university admission regulations recently issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, schools are allowed to convert foreign language certificates into scores for this subject to include in the admission combination, but the weighting must not exceed 50%.

At the same time, the Ministry of Education and Training stipulates that the incentive points and bonus points for candidates with foreign language certificates must not exceed 10% of the maximum score on the scale (for example, a maximum of 3 points on a scale of 30).

The Ministry of Education and Training also noted that schools must ensure that no candidate has an admission score (including bonus points and regional and subject priority points) exceeding the maximum. Thus, if a candidate scores 30 points according to the admission combination, having a foreign language certificate is almost meaningless.
